Just got back from a couple of days in the great white north
went up thursday, established base camp at Christopher creek lodge.. went up on the rim: scatterd snow below , bunch more on top: hard packed, crusty with bald spots in sunny areas. pulled sleds on FR99 (just north of Forest lakes) lots of ice.
Back to Christopher Creek http://www.cclodge.com/ :really great place, rustic atmosphere, they give you real CEDAR to burn in fire place. We stayed in "tandem" cabin.. twinbed bunks, kitchen, fridge... really great rate (manager, "Tina" is Jeep frendly... mention me and she will take care of you). They also have creekside cabins (not that much more expensive, but I'm Cheap).
Back to snow report: snowed Thursday night, 1-2 in Christopher creek, about 4 on the rim... AWSOME. FS closed rim road and many other roads, but 99 and (forgot #, just south of Forest lakes) stayed open. Draged sled behing ZJ for awsome time in lots of fresh powder. Went up again this morning, light crust on top of snow but was still light and fluffy, lots of fun.
looking foward to returning
