My wife and I will be driving out to Arizona from Tennessee this Saturday
and will be in the Sedona/Prescott/Flagstaff area for about a week. Do
you
guys have any planned rides during that time? We generally do level 3-4
(Scaled 1-5).

I can't make it this weekend, but next week end would be good for me.
There are a couple of class 4 trails I've been wanting to check out. If
anyone is interested, let me know.
Also, if anyone is interested in a combined offroad/camping deal there's
a trail that Dan/Revolvr and I want to check out that runs the ridge
north of 4Peaks, and may hook up to Reno Pass. It has class 2 through 4
available. It' a long one, and would make for a good overnight...so if
your interested in that one, maybe in a month or so...when it cools
alittle, shoot out a note.

I think I'm going to take the weekend off too. I might be interested in the Class 4 trails - are these off SR-87?
Back to Reno Pass, I noticed on my Topo there appears to be a structure down that wrong turn we took. On another map I have there is a place listed as "Fort Reno" at the same location. Did we miss some ruins possibly? I haven't been able to find any info on the Net regarding Fort Reno, other than it was established by Gen. Crook to make the Tonto Basin safe from Indians, and lasted from 1867 to 1870. It isn't listd on www.ghosttowns.com, although a number of other good sites are listed there.

Subject: Last Friday
Last Friday I took a little trip on a trail on the north end of Lake Pleasant
near Hum Bug Creek. Nothing in the way of rock climbing or anything, but it
sure was pretty up there. I took the Hum Bug Creek turn off of Castle Hot
Springs Road and just kind a wandered around. Can't really say which exact
road I was on because I wasn't paying attention, but I named the road Two
Muffler Road because of, you guessed it, two mufflers I saw along the trial
that looked like they had parted company with their former hosts on not very
friendly terms.
Somehow, I eventually wound up going through the Boulder Creek Ranch and
finding I-17 about 3 or 4 miles north of New River. A nice drive none the
less.
With the rain, there were a few muddy spots and my BFG AT's clogged up with
mud real quick and made driving seem like I was on ice. Rather harrowing.

Just wondering if anyone thinks that a 1988 wrangler 2.5 ltr, 4 cyl, with
99,500 miles for $4950.00 is a good deal. Let me know what you think. I have
a co-worker that is interested, but asked me what I thought. I looked at the
Jeep, and it was clean, other than a few cosmetics. It had a few extras like
new tires, and a console, bikini top, etc... I told him I would get back to
him by sat. The guy is only holding the offer until sat. Thanks,

I wandered around in that area last spring. I was looking for the extreme
trail described in 4WD & Sport Utility Mag but never found it.
I went as far north as the Agua Fria river crossing and turned back. Have
you been to Tip Top (ghost town)?

Larry here...
Thanks,

Larry,
Go to
www.edmunds.com
and
www.kbb.com (Kelly Blue Book)
To find used car prices. Adjust for equipment, condition and mileage, which I didn't do. I did a quick look and the values quoted are between $3100 (trade in) to $6500 (retail).

Seeing that I bought my YJ just 9 months ago the 4 banger is a lot cheaper than the 6 but that price sounds pretty good.
Also I will not be able to make any runs for a while as hunting season is going on for the next 3 weeks see you after that.
I refuse to belong to any group that would have me as a member
