Jamie and I have some free time this weekend to get in a run or two... We drop off the young ones around 10AM on 12-2 and would be available after that time or we are available early on 12/3.

I was thinking about running Predator and seeing if anyone was interested in showing us the way to XXX. I could see leading a quick run through the Terminators or Judgement Day, as well. I would like to run a trail or two at TM that I haven't run yet, however, that would require some other folks showing us the way. I would drive out to FJ on Sunday for a chance to run the Ajax's, Woodpecker's, H2H or the equivalent..... You guys get the idea

Let me know your thoughts, we are flexible. Looking for a few capable rigs to have some fun with, this weekend.

I'm really wanting to get out on Saturday and would enjoy Table Mesa. I don't know about me having a capable rig but I'm willing to drag it anywhere.:)

Ben,
Both you and your rig are plenty capable for Predator and the other mentioned trails. I'm not sure about XXX or some of the nastier ones, because I've yet to do them in my heep. Lets see how this shakes out. I could see meeting in the late morning out at TM and cranking out a few of the trails.
Its early in the week and I'll get it finalized in a couple of days. Jamie and I would enjoy having you along for a TM run.
Be well

I would be down to run TM on the 3rd. XXX really isnt that tough of a trail. No harder than predator just so far back in there that I dont think its worth it. It is almost an hour further on dirt road than terminator stuff. I would be down to ride other trails though.

It seems as if TM is where we are wheeling. Jamie can't make a Saturday, but has given me permission to play. She can join us for a Sunday (12/3) run. Ben, can you make it on Sunday?

I was wondering just how far back XXX was. I went to find it, after running Predator and it seemed like we drove forever without finding anything that stood out as, XXX. We found some other interesting washes along the way, but never XXX. I would be up for an Upper Terminator into Predator run, with a lets see how quickly those go and possibly adding a 3rd trail.

Let me know your thoughts and if there are any other 3.5+ trails close by, to run. I could have my arm twisted into running Lower Terminator, just because I haven't run the Terminator obstacle in a long while.

I'm going to pull the FJ part of the opening post. We just need to settle on a date.

It's as tough as one wants to make it. There are many side obstacles to play on and of course the big crack to be tackled. Taking the straightforward route through it is about a 4.0 and so not that hard.

Going in without hard lockers front and rear would be more than a little foolish, however.

Ben,
I was just asking if you were available on Sunday. I enjoy the time we've spent on the trail together and would like to still have you involved in the run. I'm still open to running on Saturday. I'm just waiting to see if anyone else is interested in running TM trails on either day.

For a Saturday run, I would be at the air down spot @ 12PM. Lets see how things shake out, its only Wednesday. I'll finalize the date, time, starting point/trails, and vehicle specs by Friday AM. How does that sound?

ahhh, sorry bout that , I misunderstood...

yes, I'm still definately up for a saturday TM run then. 12pm sounds good or whenever your schedule allows. My 14 yr old nephew, John, is really looking forward to it too... He's not been to the trails out there before and will be riding shotgun with me.

See you there,

Ben

I might be down for either day. My rig needs a shake down run. I just need to get off my bum and set my bumpstops.

I'm hoping to do a couple of decently difficult trails out there. With that in mind, I'm not sure how much of a shake down run you are looking for. If your comfortable with your heep's new set up, by all means, set your bumpstops, cause we're going to play in the rocks this weekend. If you are still a little unsure about how its going to work, this may not be the best run for a shake down. Use your best judgement.....

So far I've got Ben who can only go on Saturday and two folks that are OK with either day. How about Skii4x4? Are you available to do this thang on 12/2?

I'm going to finalize everything by Friday AM. I would like to lead a couple of quick runs through the trails I know, out there. If anyone wants to join in who knows the location of a couple of the other trails out there, I can run as a tail gunner. I'm up for learning the location of some of these trails that I've only seen pictures of out at TM.

Currently planning on running Upper Terminator and then Predator. From there we'll see what time allows.
12/2 folks:
YGOHOME with them fancy smancy tube fenders....:D
Crawldit with no fenders......:D
Huck with plain jane fenders and a few dents......:D

12/3 folks:
Crawldit still missing those fenders
Huck with his other half, but still with his dented tub
Skii4x4 with his yota (the 1st run I ever did out there was with a buddy in a 4runner on 44's)

I'm leaning towards Saturday, but am still seeing if anyone else is wanting to come play. So, lets post up and see where we are at tomorrow night.

Well that's just no fair, you're logic makes sense ;) I suppose I should relegate my shake down run to something in the Moderate Forum, I'm just itching to get out and jumped the gun since TM is close to home. I think I'll go with the side of good judgment this time and catch you guys after the bugs are worked out:cool:

i might be up at table mesa satuday. it kind of depends on my work schedule but it's looking pretty good for having the weekend off. if you want to shake down your rig,(and i can't imagine how much shakedown it could need if it's the rubi in your sig line)i could run with you. i'll just be up there with my family most likely camping in my motorhome.

i have an xj on 33's with open diffs. i'll go wherever i can but don't want to bog down a formal trailride because i don't have lockers. let me know if you just want to go up there and meet up. i have a couple of d44 lockers. maybe i'll put one in the rear end of the xj tomorrow.

I cannot ride Sat, I work. I would only be down for a Sun Run. If you wanted I can lead you out to XXX if my memory works right, but there are also a lot of fun looking washes on the way out there. Also if you wanted to I can lead you on a couple of really good trails out at whitetanks if you were interested.

Thanks for the offers guys, but it looks like I'll have to gracefully bow out anyway. My wife heard about the snow up North and wants to get up to the mountains this weekend. I'll hook up with you guys sometime though. I appreciate the offers.

Alrighty,
I'm on my home from the office, as the day ran long. I'll talk things over with the Jamie and see which day she would prefer I go out to play. Since she is working on Saturday and she wants to do some seasonal shopping at some point this weekend, I may only have Saturday to play, now.
I appreciate the offer on the Whitetanks Run and would be up for that in a couple of weeks. I've only gotten as far as Ruler and would be interested in finally finding Scorpion. So, lets think about rolling out that way a little later this month.

I'll post up after the discussion, this evening. This weekend will definitely be a TM run.

Due to seasonal shopping concerns the run will be as follows:
12-2-06 Table Mesa
11:45AM airdown
12PM Take off to the trails

Come out and play-midday..... All are welcome, CB channel 4 and heading out to warm up on Upper Terminator into Predator and then see from there

I just ask that you and your rig are up to playing on 3.5+ trails.
Happy Holidays,
Huck

It was a beautiful day to play. I showed up to find Rich, Brent and Ben awaiting my arrival. After a short wait for me to ready the rig we were off to Upper Terminator. We took time to play hit every obstacle we could. We had a fun and fairly quick run through Uper Terminator. The damage report was fairly minimal from that trail, Rich rested a front driveshaft on a rock and that put a little skew into it and the rest of us just scraped some paint here or there. We did run into some bees along the trail, but they didn't seem to mind us wheeling right through their area.

After Upper Terminator Rich left us for an early arrival at home and we went to run Predator. Hitting all that we could, we were at Annilator in about 20 minutes...... Wow, three folks needing minimal spotting can quicky run that trail. Were were off the trail prior to 4pm.

It was great wheeling with Rich again, after at least a year, and to see Ben again after our last time on Payette Draw. It was the first time for me to run with Brent and he was very capable. He is running a Full size Chevy that is very well re-constructed. He has put some time, energy, and tubing into his rig and it worked well. The lwb has some distinct advantages over the swb and it was fun seeing where the two wheel bases really helped or hindered the driver on any particular obstacle.

I was able to grab a few pics, since I was up front or spotting and I know there is some nice video floating around somewhere. In all, it was a warm December day spent with good company. We left midday and were on the road home while the Sun was still shining.
Thanks for coming out. I look forward to wheeling with you all again. I'll try to get a webshots album together with the pics I have. I got a couple of real decent shots of Brent's rig doing its thing.

Thanks for leading and spotting us Huck. Yes, my nephiew took some excellent video footage of us all. He says he wants to build a Chevy just like Brents when he's old enough. Got some really good video of Hucks rig making full use of the Nth dog legged long arms and tummy tuck and of Rich's driveshaft getting those candy cane stripes. Was alot of fun and we all got out with little or no damage... just some pretty dents and scrapes. pretty cool :) . Huck, you'll have to explain to me again the idea of relocating those body mounts up higher. I definately need to do somthing about them.

*now I just have to figure out how to transfer the mini digi video tape film to the internet.

Well, it was just a great day for wheeling, I just wish I had more time to spend out there and I don't understand why more people didn't show up.

I was determined to finally run Upper Terminator and it lived up to my expectations. It was a perfect small group with Dr Rock leading Ben, myself, and Brent and doing an excellent job spotting us through the hard spots. It's probably been more than a year since I wheeled with Huck and I was due for another lesson.

I had to leave early, just after UT but the rest of the guys headed for Predator. I got a few pictures posted below including the spot where I bent my front driveshaft. I got on I-17 and at about 45 mph I was shaking badly so I got off at the New River exit and stopped at Jackass Acres. It's been closed for some time now but has a nice concrete slab in front of the door so I pulled up there and disconnected the front DS and tied it up. That DS must have also had a ding in it before Upper because I had the smoothest ride home ever.

I asked Huck to spot me through this one until I got out and he showed me the big hole my tire would be in just before my front end plunged into the wall, I took the bypass.

See you guys on the trail

That was a pretty good run with you guys. Everyone got through without much issue and we made good time and got in some quality afternoon wheeling. I look forward to getting out with you again sometime. Huck's little side trip at the end of the day was pretty interesting also. Some remnants of some kind of old fort or something that I had no idea was out there.

Wow. The base of that obstacle is really filled in since the last time I was out on Upper Terminator.

http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8534&stc=1&d=1165210675

Funny how that works. I have seen it do that before. One time the rains will wash it all away, then another time it will fill it in.

Barry,
I was surprised when I drove up to it, as well. The last couple of times I've run it, the base of the obstacle was a puddle of water. I never thought it was so sandy. Its always interesting running a trail that you haven't done in while and seeing how the weather and our washes create an ever evolving trail system.

Rich,
http://www.virtualjeepclub.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=8539&stc=1&d=1165210675

The picture just doesn't do the obstacle or your attempt justice. I'm sorry that you had to remove the front shaft, in order to have a peaceful ride home. From what I read one another thread, it was a bad weekend for front DS's. I'm glad you made it back home, peacefully. It was great seeing you again and look forward to the next time. May it be sooner than later:)
