My buddy Shane, a mechanic here in Havasu, was working on a Sand Buggy/Jeep (Sorry, I got the info 3rd hand to begin with), getting it ready for someone to take to Glamis for the holiday weekend. He took it for a test drive over to his sister's house and when he was leaving, something happened and it ended up flipping 5 times, crushing the cage. They can't be sure, but they think the throttle may have stuck. The first responders say he's lucky to be alive, so there's one miracle that's already happened for him... This thing had a full on cage, and he was in a 5 point harness, but he still suffered some pretty serious injuries. He was Airevac'd to a hospital in Vegas. He's been in and out of surgery at least twice to repair a crushed shoulder, as well as numerous skin grafts he'll be needing on his arm. He's due to have another surgery today at 3pm, though I'm not sure what this one is for.

I wish I was there so I could lay hands on him and declare the healing power of the Lord over his broken body, but I can't get there...

Can we all just take a moment out of our day to lift him up in a prayer of healing?

Shane's doing much better. He was moved out of ICU and they removed the drainage tube from his shoulder... He has a long road ahead of him, but he's young and strong, so...

I went to his sister's house yesterday to talk to her and her husband (who saw the whole accident...) about how he was doing and such... I ended up talking to her husband and he was saying that they think he tried to brace himself for the crash in mid-roll by holding on to the cage and when it crushed, that was what did his shoulder in... I told him that would have pushed his arm down, not into the socket. I think he put his arm out the window. Maybe not purposely, but as a reflex... His socket was shatter as was the ball of the joint... He had two other breaks in the same arm. Luckily he had no major head trauma and his CATscans came back clean, though he has no short term memory right now.

I saw the path of destruction and MAN, he IS lucky to be alive...

On a sour note, the guy that owns the Jeep is being a ______ (Fill in the blank). He's saying he's going to sue Shane for detroying his Jeep and doesn't even care how he is... Truth is, if anyone should be sued, it's him. The police deemed the accident due to mechanical failure. Shane said he thinks the it sounded like one of the ring and pinions exploded and put him into the curb sideways, starting the roll...

Just thought you guys would like to know...

Dan, sorry to hear about your friend, I hope he has a speedy recovery. As for the owner of the jeep, he has his priorities mixed up a bit:mad:
