I just got back from Vegas. I flew with southwest and did the ticketless travel. Just type a number in the computer and get a boarding pass.

I woke up at 830, rushed to the airport by 915 and my flight was set to leave at 10. My typed in my number didn't work, tryed it about 10 more times while cussing the computer. I talked to a agent they told me to go wait in line. By this time it was 930. I didn't have any bags to check so i got to go to the front of the line and finally cleared everything up by 945. I ran up the stairs thru the check point and something kept making it go off. They got the metal detector wand and there was something in my shirt that made it keep goin off. I took off my shirt put it thru the x-ray machine then got my shoes and all my stuff back and its now 10:05. I hear the final boarding call for my flight so i ran as fast as i could and got to the gate right as they were closing the doors thank god i got in!

Since i was the last one on the plane that was fully booked I was stuck in the seat in the very back in between 2 very very stinky people. The the best thing was they both fell asleep and snored. I am happy it was a short flight and when that plane landed i was the 3rd person off. My ride from the airport was a no show, I had no cash for a cab and I ended up walking to the hotel, luckily it was right down the road.

As of now i don't ever want to get on a plane again!

Nope, not "cool" enough for them. I'm not one to keep my mouth shut (or kiss a lot of arse) for the 6 months of "hazing" they put their new hires through so I wouldn't last.

Yea that is close to the airport, I was just hoping you didn't say the HoJo, that place is the ultimate roach motel.

Sounds nasty but my flights usually go like this:
Leave 4am for London arrives around 8:00am. Visit un-happy customers all day. Check into a English style motel 6 where the phone is located outside side of room and no internet. Leave early morning for Frankfurt then catch a train for 3 hours to Hanover. Stay a couple of days head back to Frankfurt via train then fly on to China, yup then train to Nanjing for 3 hrs stay 2 days then back to Shanghai and fly to Taiwan via Hong Kong because government will not allow direct flights stay a couple of days in Taipei and then on to Narita and take buss for 2 hours to Tokyo then stay a day and train to Osaka. Stay a couple of days then on to Inchon, South Korea and take car for 2 hrs to Seoul stay a week and back to Inchon then head for San Francisco. We make good time due to jet stream and arrive 2 hrs early but immigration is still sleeping so we wait on tarmac…
The best part is I get to do this (with variation) every 2 months!!!
Oh and all in economy but hey I am a 1K member…

Ohhh I am soooo sooo glad its you guys and not me anymore. Most of my flying since 9-11 has been international [for pleasure] but my wife is a citizen/passport of Europe which really makes things much easier. Plus she can bring back Cuban cigars.

For the last half of my career I flew anywhere from 250k to 400k miles a year. The good news is my wife and I will most likely never have to buy a plane ticket again. But I racked up my miles back in the EZ flying days, prior to 9-11.

Today it must be a friggin nitemare and wish all of your good and most of all SAFE passage:) GODSPEED

No it's actually the Jeep's fault... for not having it's doors on Friday night for the long ride home after being outside from 6:30pm to 12:30am.

as a Delta Multi-Million Miler, America West/USAirways platinum club Member and burning SW free tix for heat sometimes, I can say unequivocably that flying does SUCK.
Been in 4 jobs in 10 years that were/are full-time travel. I'll fly out on Monday and home on Friday. And sometimes to several cities during the week.
It's one thing to get to know the attendants and their routes, etc. it's another thing all together to go out drinking with them on layovers!
Hell, I just started flying again after a 2-year hiatus, and one of the attendants on my most recent flight re-intriduced herself to me... she freakin remembered me!! (time to get out the shovel and lye, I guess, LOL)

I don't fly SWA for the very reason that I am ot one of those early-arrivals and would be stuck in that seat EVERY time. Hell, I've missed my last two outbound flights due to AWA's rule of showing up 45 mins early with luggage or you're a no-go.
Fortunately, my company will only fly us first class (even alternate schedule) if overseas or over 5 hours flight time.

and, yes... I am a mile high member, with many repeat visitors wings ;) Doubt I could do it now, what with the bad back and those TINY lavs nowadays.

Seriously here...
hold your nose and blow lightly. They'll pop right back into place.
my ears are toast and this is the only way i can get them to pop on the descent. Came down from 39K feet into Boston once without them popping once... I was in AGONY for two days until i sneezed (I hold my nose for sneezes so as to not make a HUGE mess all over everyything) and they popped out. This was how i figured it out.
you my get the sensation of gagging, but that's normal when doing this action. just be careful and increase pressure slowly until they pop. You msy then need to yawn to finish the pressure equalization (I do mosre often than not), but IT WILL WORK.

A warm (read: just below scalding hot) towel folded up and pressed against the ear does relieve some of the pain. but the above will relieve the root cause and you'll fee better instantly!

Now the Drs on the board are gonna be screaming about blowing out your eardrums, but they're already screwed from not popping, mmmkay.

thats awesome!!! and ya i clean the carpets in the head office for us airways and if i put in like 2 weeks of flying notice they can normally knock down the price since my company has had there account for several years now, but it was a family emergency and didnt care it was cheaper and probably safer than driving the jeep, and any tips on how to un pop your ears? since it looks like you fly alot.

Yea but when your sinuse are full of snot, that doesn't work really well. I was comign down out of 27k this evening and it just got worse and worse. They finalyl did ease up once home but the humidifer I have goes has helped... and the tons of drugs too. ;)

Read my enitre post, I put up some tried and true methods to get your ears to pop, especially on the descent or after you're on the ground.
If you do the hold and blow trick... BE CAREFUL! You can blow out your eardrums if you go too far or fast. You'll go a little past equal, and then yawn to even out.
If you've got a cold, it should still work. It's never failed me.
One great way to avoid getting illnesses from flying is the nastiest stuff I've found... airborne (the real stuff, not the walgreens knock off). Tastes like butt, but it does appear to work, even in every day situations!

Good luck and I hope no one has to suffer needlessly and then visit a doctor for something so easily remedied.
