Well we just got done lifting our first new 2door 07. I hate to admit, but it does look decent, a lot better than stock. They actually put 35's on, but they're AT's:confused: .

I have said this since day one and will repeat it again...the JK in either format is the best Jeep Jeep ever built, no ifs, ands or buts.

There are only 2 things that scare me about the JK, it is the overall size being a few inches larger than a TJ. This in itself is not a drawback, but there are hundreds if not thousands of trails across the southwest that have literally been cut by TJs. In fact I know of several here and in Moab that if I had a JK I would not want to be trying to follow a guy in a TJ.

The second thing that scares me is: Trying to tell and convince my wife that I need to part out my TJ and buy a JK...I am gonna leave that one alone for a while at least.

BINGO! I kept trying to picture what other grill looked like the JK. The Teraflex 4 door JK on 40's is sick! I like that one. I wouldn't have the v-6 and I dislike the interior.

but it still has a v6:mad:

I have heard that lot. All the moans and groans about the V6 and it purported lack of hp/torque, lugging power etc etc.

BS!
F134 engine produced 75 hp at 4000 rpm (although it redlines at 3200 rpm) and 114 ft·lb at 2000 rpm with a 7.5:1 compression ratio.

The old 4 banger standby. Got down the roster of Jeep engines and until you get to the 4.0L most were anemic at best and downright slow. Older Jeeps did good to run 50 mph on the highway.

And your thought they were stump-pullers...Well, they were and they pulled the stumps by developing all the power they have long been noted for thru gears. My old 4 banger had OEM 4:88 and some kind of granny low that would not let it go much faster than about 7 mph.

Years ago when they built a revolving restaurant atop the tower next to the Hyatt I had a chance to see the inner workings. As I remember it revolved once an hour and did so using a 1/2 hp electric motor, gears were the answer.

So whether Jeep throws in a stump-pulling torque monster or a high power band HP/Torque engine it just needs the proper gearing to accomplish our rock crawling mission:D

I wheeled with a guy who had the Atlas 10:1, 4:1 trans and 4:88 gears for an impressive 195.2 crawl ratio. How effective do you think he was in the rocks of Moab? NOT at all, what a waste of money. Do the math and you will get an idea of of the rpms it took to just turn over the tires one time. [Shop built rig]

I disagree, when there's no low end torque it makes for an impredictable ride, the engine has a harder time to keep a steady rpm while going over obstacles. Tractor like engines such as the 4.0L are desirable for crawling.
Sure you can gear the crap out of it, but I'd rather have the range to get there in a timely manner not in 5th gear going 10mph at 5000rpms. If so I might as well get a horse, a cowboy hat and be trail leader:rolleyes::p

Look at the thing sideways. Does anyone see an H3 in there somewhere? It is much better with the fenders gone. And oh, looks like they're going back to thier roots with those front turn signals. Give them a few years and the CJ will be BACK! I think I'll keep mine.

I actually like the new grill... looks more like a real Jeep, IMHO.
Not real sure about the whole fender-integrated-with-flare thing, but looks good with the flares gone.
A real jeep should have the turn signals in the grill :) [putting on flame suit now]
Although the shape of the grill on the late model TJ has a shape VERY reminiscent of an old flatty or other EJ (Early Jeep)
