Since my YJ has all the flex of an old brick, I've been playing around with the idea of going soa. Lately I've been reading of other people going soa in the front and leaving the rear sua.
Anybody running this set up? Any thoughts on the pros or cons?
Right now I've got a 3.5" lift with a 1" BL & MM lift, 33"s and I'm running the D30 upfront with an 8.8 in the rear. I'd like to move up to 36" tsl's so I've been trying out different ideas on how to get this size tire to work and get the most out of the suspension.

Thanks for your input!

SOA both front and rear, I'd also do the shackel reversal, and you will want to put a ladder bar or one link to prevent axlewrap... just my .02

Be prepared to spend money for the front. When I went SOA I went and would go to D44 in the front unless you have tons of money in your D30. The D44 can then have Hi steer knuckles for the steering and bigger brakes. The rear is pretty easy just get good springs, anti wrap perches and may anti wrap bar.

Instead of trying to think this all out you need to visit one or two of us SOA YJ to see it. Its is much easier that way. Most if not all of us are willing to show and talk jeeps alot:D We had too:D

At the BBQ.. There will be lots of them. Give you a good chance to ask and take a look at what folks have done.

Really Alot of THEM:D Remember this is a TJ Virtual Jeep Club. But you may find one or two. I have been looking for the past couple of years, maybe this year we will have a few more:D YJ's are a minority and SOA YJ's are a minority in a minority:D :D

When they gave out a body lift for a YJ a couple years back to a TJ owner it wasn't to hard to trade my TJ budget lift with them. Now that body lift is on my jeep.:D

Don, I know the feeling, its funny to go on a run and get excited when there's another YJ. I'm almost always the only one running square headlights. But on the bright side, my jeeps paid off!
Anyway, some of my reasons of thinking of staying with sua in the back is due to the axle wrap issue and cost. I can keep the cost down by not having to add a ladder bar and new perchs to my 8.8. That way I can at least get the correct set up (high steer) for the front.
This whole thought process of soa/sua may be off base, and like stated before, I need to take a look at some YJ's with the soa to get a better idea of all thats involved. The only real experience I've had with soa was with Drew's rig on upper ajax (long night). That may be whats holding me back from wanting to go soa with my 8.8.

Hey, I was tryin to give to some love to the guys with the leafs that's all. What can I say...

Its true though, I remember when YJ's ruled. Now, when one comes into the shop, I look at it like an old freind I havent seen since college.

That still owe's me 20 bucks. LOL

i've got the 8.8 with 4.88's in the rear and bouncin around on stock springs pushin 36's and i think it is a better idea to live with the axle wrap.

the only time that it's been a problem is on the slick wet rocks out at TM
(the axle wrap seemed bad but it might of been multiplied by my jeeps lack of rear shocks, but now ive got some nice stiff ones back there and can't wiat to test them out)

my course of action is to not do burnouts in parking lots and when it starts to bounce out on the trail i remember to back off the skinny pedal.

I think the only reason people go with the SOA front/SUA rear is to avoid the spring wrap issue in the rear. But there are ways to deal with spring wrap so my recommendation would be to go SOA/SOA.

BTW, I have a SOA/SOA YJ. I've got the RE 1.5 springs and with the 6-leaf packs in the rear and no traction bar. I have not had problems with spring wrap - been running the set-up for a couple years now.
