I'm getting an 06 Tacoma 4x4 this weekend. Any of my favorite vendors carry a 3" lift for these? Does Rancho make those adjustable lift front struts for Tacomas?

Oh yeah, this is Jeep related because I am keeping my TJ :)

The worst vehicle, most unreliable vehicle I ever had was a 1998 Toyota Tacoma...Good luck on your purchase.

Mom always said that if you dont have anything nice to say dont say anything at all.
Granpa Always said dont miss an opertunity to keep quiet.

Tom Just dropped some hard earned bank on a nice truck and you want to pop is bubble.

How about being constructive and letting him know exactly what to look out for, IF anything bad in 98 is still in the 06 truck.

Tom Some Pics after the lift would be cool.

Sorry, I lost $5,000 on one, long story...sour grapes, dealer screwed me on a warranty claim about the IFS and as far as I know they still have a complicated, expensive IFS system. But I am Sorry man, enjoy your truck and ignore me. Im a D*#k. I like Fords(old ones), so what the hell do I know. My buddy has a 2000 Tacoma and it goes everywhere my Tj goes stock with 31" tires. He has done Broken Arrow a few times without damage.

They are aslo a biatch to work on, we lifted his 2000 with 2.5" spacers and it took four times as long as my BB to install. You might want to check out Daystar, they mkae a spacer lift for the slightly older ones, and might have them for the 2006. Also with a 3 inch lift you might have CV angle issues, definately not bad ones but you might want to get manual locking hubs up front so your CV shafts last longer becasue they wont rotate while not engaged on road. I have heard about wear issues with lifts and CV shaft angles. I think it gives slightly better milage as well becasue the front axles assembly is not turning. How is that for some constructive critisism instead of being an ***. Oh yeah, SKIDPLATES!. You are lifting it so I will assume you might take it out once or twice. These newer trucks come with a paper thin skid, you will want to protect the IFS at all costs, a HD skid will look cool and provide much needed beef. 3 inch lift, 33s, manual hubs with skids would be pretty stout. Someone one there might be making HD CV shafts. FYI the Toyota 8"(I think thats what you have) is as good as dana44, plus it has a locker with the TRD package, which is cool. Just dont have too much fun on the stock IFS or go wild and you will be fine. I think my Tacoma was a lemon...although IFS is not famous for being good.

I have had four Toyota trucks including my 2005 2WD Tacoma TRD and I never had to take either one of them to the dealer for warranty work. They are very reliable trucks.

While were on the subject, does anybody know if they make a lift for the 2WD Tacoma?

They do make lifts for 2wd Tacos, there is a big prerunning scene for those. I would once again look at daystar...or a vender on here will hook you up. It was wierd, I hardly wheeled the Taco but then the front wheels were like this / \ over the course of a week. The skids had one scratch that voided the warranty. Said it had been involved in an "off-road accident."I told them if this is what they called a truck they could have it back.

I bought a 2005 4x4 TRD last year and I love it. Have not had any issues at all. I also want to put a little bit of lift on it. You made a good choice :D

My dad has a 2001 4x4 and it's a great truck. I was strongly considering buying an 2005 and bought the Rubicon instead. 240hp and six speed manual is pretty nice.

Here's a nice one for ideas...everyone loves pics right :)

Do your research here - www.ttora.com

AZ Chapter - http://www.tacomaterritory.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=166

There are many lift options from $ - $$$$ (Donahoe, Camburg, Sonoran Steel, Total Chaos then of course you have the big brand Superlift, Rancho, Fabtech, etc...but I'd stay away from them)
