I dont' have a workbench or room for one. I saw this executed somewhere else, but I can't remember where.

Basically, I took a peice of 2" square tube and welded a plate to the top. I then added some gussets, and drilled a few holes for the vice. Total cost was $11 for the scrap steel (this place is pricey for scrap, but close to work). The Harbor Freight vice was $30. I spent $10 on pointlessly strong 10.9 hardware, mostly because I wanted black bolts.

The metal is all 1/8" steel. A little thin for my taste, but my welder is weak, and I found a nice round peice of scrap for the plate. Most of the vice weight is centered over the hitch tube, with a bolt going through the center. The 'ears' shouldn't see to much force...

P.S. I don't plan to drive with it in my receiver. I trust the welds, I don't trust the HF vice.

Cool bumper. It's like a fold down work bench. Did you have a rough time picking the thing back up once it was down? It looks heavy...

it wasn't too bad lifting/lowering it....I had built as a work bench, but I think I ended up using it as a picnic table more :D
