We took the jeep to Overgaard this weekend and Bill & Diane agreed to run the Cracks with us. The wind was blowing hard which made it much colder and the air was filled with dust. I lost my lockers right at the beginning on Gate Rock with an air leak and also had the trans slipping on the vertical stuff. I thought sure my wife would have checked the tranny fluid before the trip, after all it is her jeep. It was a little low and we didn't have any, I need to talk to her about that.

We were taking all the bypasses, this was my wife's first time on the Cracks but she was watching Bill & Diane take all the hard lines. We decided to bypass the Snake Pit and head for the Three Sisters. On this side of the hill the wind and dust from the lake bed was blowing right through the jeep. Don't know what it is called but that little steep fall just before the Sisters reached up and grabbed Bill and we watched as he slowly went down on his side. There was some small damage and the new PSC Tube Fenders held up well. The top did get trashed along with the door surround and some small dings.

I don't think Bill was hurt and Diane may have hurt her knee. They were both able to climb out and we winched their jeep back on all four. No fluids came out and it started right up but we called it a day and headed back.

Our pics are below.

Bill decided to drive it back to Heber instead of hauling it back on our trailer. So a little duct tape and a last check of the damage and off we went. I followed him between 60 & 65 and everything must have been OK because they never stopped.

The last of our pics.

Looks like Bill took no time testing out his new fenders! I'm glad he and Diane are ok. I guess he put to rest some of the fears people brought up about PSC fenders on his post last week--the grill looked straight.

I'm glad you guys are ok. You know, you didn't have to test out the new fenders just for us non-believers.:D

Yes, thanks to Kathy for taking the pictures. Mine was down in the floor somewhere. I also want to thank Rick for winching me up and Helping get me down off that ledge afterwards.

I do believe I tested the fenders and they came through with flying colors!:)
Only problem is, my sweet wife will probable never, ever ride with me again.:o

I have been off of that ledge a bunch of times and why I got over so far to the left, I'll never know. You really should have a spotter on the start of that ledge too. Only damage to tub was a little ding behind the door handle, and a small ding behind the passenger side hood latch. Only scratched the paint on the flat fenders, but trashed the top.

Danged old TJ has 198,000 miles on her and she didn't spill a drop of fluids! It was still running at the end of the flop and I turned her off and the keys fell out. I had to find them before starting it again. She also fired right up with no smoke. Dam Jeeps are tough!

Diane banged her knee a little and has a bruise on it today, but she isnt limping. I told her to remember what I said 35 years ago when we got married. "Stick with me babe and watch all the fun we have." :D Well, I am still working on it.:o

Gee Antman, pulling a Devilboy I see! Glad you both are OK, from the pics, you are lucky you didn't go over any further than you did. Looks like it coulda gone another 1/2 roll at least. We will tackle that ledge on the Dec 9th run, and make sure you don't do it again! LOL

Bill,
As you know there was some discussion about the PSC tubes possibly causing the grill to collapse. Having laid my down on the rocks in Moab my PSCs held up well and clearly yours did also.

Have you examined your grill for any sheet metal ripples or creases?

Looking at the way the PSCs are built I feel the ones that have the lip, like ours are far stronger...

Keep the rubber down:)

No ripples or creases. In fact when I installed the PSC fenders, I notice from my original fenders, the sheet metal near the top bolt from the fenders to the grill, hidden under the hood was starting to rip. The PSC fenders seem to be much more stronger than the stock ones.

Yea, it could have been worst. I saw the video of yours Dennis and you went over a lot harder than I did. Mine was a very slow roll. I even had time to think about turn into it and gassing it, but my wife would have killed me for sure then.
