Yellow top is rated SLI (starter, lights, and ignition) as well as being a
deep cycle for heavy winching applications. They make a blue top that is
also rated the same as the yellow, just targeted at the marine/boat market
vs. the off-road crowd.

Which Optima would be best for a TJ with winch, lights, stereo,
etc.? I might be replacing my batt. real soon and would like to know
which one is the most desired for my application. TIA!

One of the two "deep cycle" ones, i.e, the yellow top, or the deep cycle
blue top, are the only two Optima's that you can use with a winch, and not
void the warranty. The red top, and the non-deep cycle blue top are
"starting" type batteries, and aren't made to be drawn down more than
somthing like 3%, like most other car batteries. The deep cycle batteries
can handle being drawn down more and more often.

Cheers,
Fred

Have you used Delorme's 3D Topo Quads? They are the actual top maps scanned
in plus Delormes standard data combined. When you get down to the higher
resolutions you get the actual topo maps you would buy at World of Maps.
Works great for me and I have been using Delorme for many years. I have the
3D Topo Quads for the Western United States including Alaska. The only time
I had a problem was with the newest releases on my old Pentium 150 Laptop.
Not enough processing power. My 600 Pentium III laptop works great with it.

Not sure about his lift stuff, but a bought what was supposed to be a heavy
duty steering set up from him and it was not good...and basically unsafe.
Kept breaking the double end and it had a tremendously large dead zone in
it. I had gotten other stuff from him, and my general customer service
experience was also not good. Literally took him 3 months to complete a
simple order...and then only after I spent a small fortune in long distance
phone calls. It was really a nightmare. He'd tell me an item (outer TJ D30
stub - not a tough one) was shipped...it wasn't; he'd tell me several weeks
later that it was shipped...it wasn't. This went on and on. When the blessed
day arrived, I opened the box, and it was a YJ 260 stub. Couldn't believe
it. Started the whole process again....took forever. ACK!

He's a real nice guy to talk to, and you want to believe him and you want to
support a small business, but I'll never mess with him again. Too many other
shops out there that have their act together.

I have Delorme's 3D Top Quads for AZ. It's pretty cool to change the topo's

terrain of your path.
I have a Garmin eTrex GPS, but I'm hearing on this board that I won't be
able to download stuff from the pc to the GPS unless I get Garmin software?
I haven't been able to figure out the procedure yet. Any info along these
lines?
I haven't had any software probs either, just haven't spent enough time with
it I guess.

Garmin GPS receivers allows upload/download of waypoints, routes, and tracks
from any software that can speak Garmin....lots of them can do that.

Only Garmin markets software that can enhance the map data in the GPS
receiver. Delorme, OziExplorer, etc. will NOT supplement the map data in
the receiver. For that, you will need one of various MapSource (made my
Garmin) products....they have a variety of them and can be found on their
web site.

From the sounds of it, I think you folks might have enjoyed the GPS class we
had earlier this month.
