I've got Topo!, and I've got Maptech. I tried DeLorme about 6 months
ago and consider the DeLorme hyped junk. DeLorme does not use real top
maps and their software is bloated and buggy. I had to try over and
over again to even get it to load on my laptop.

Topo! software is buggy too. When I take it in the vehicle and use
automatic tracking with the GPS it either starts giving me faults and
crashes after a couple of hours or just quits. And the people at Topo
were downright offensive and rude when I informed them of this (I've
had this occur on two different computers, one of which I enventually
formatted c: and re-installed only the operating system and Topo!
on, to no avail).

So far Maptech is my choice. My only complaint is that Maptech only
accesses maps via the CD-ROM (it won't look for them on the hard
drive). I use a third party virtual CD-ROM so I can put one of their
discs on hard drive. It doesn't autoload it but it's easier than
changing CD's on the road. But Maptech is reliable and doesn't appear
to be buggy.

For years my favorite navigation software, which doesn't come with
maps, has been Fugawi. The fact that it comes on a floppy demonstrates
that it is lean efficient software (which tends to not be buggy). But
you have to use Fugawi with either USGS DRG's or your own scanned
maps.

Mike,

I tried ordering RE control arm bushings for my front lowers today since I
found them to be in as bad a shape as the rears and ran in to the same thing.
RE is taking phone calls, but won't take orders until the second.
Unbelievable.

Leave the T-case in, it is way to simple a job to warrant removal. I may be able to stop by, what time are you doing it? Oh yeah one hint, make sure the oil slinger is hooked up, the magnet washer is in and grease that seal for the output yoke.

I just ordered the MORE 1" body lift and 1" motor mounts for the TJ.
This should alleviate any tire rubbing as well as allow me to move
the transfer case back up. They should ship early next week. I will
post when they arrive to ask for advice/help with the install.
BTW, MORE is having a sale now through Dec 31st.

The MM lift was $99 for the top-of-the-line, zinc-plated, new torsion
rubber mounts. The part number was JM600L. You can check out their
sale prices on their web site http://www.mountainoffroad.com.

I bought an Optima red top at costco a while back for under a hundred
bucks. No special tools were needed to drop it in.
As for the yellow tops, I know Desert Rat in Tempe usually has them
in stock. I have no idea what they charge for them though.

Subject: [az_vjc] LIFT HELP NEEDED

I need you guys to come thru for me on this one…….PLEASE.

I want to hit the coves to help with the pull this weekend but here's
my issue.

I'm installing a lift on the xj. A daystar 1¾ lift spaceer and a
new leaf in the rear. I got the front spacers in and all done with
no real issues, first wheel took alittle longer than the second but
it is my first lift experience. I thought it was pretty simple for
being my first time.

The 2 problem I've encountered is with the rear are following: After
disassembling the u-bolts and the nut that holds the pack together I
can't get them to separate enough to get the new, nicely arched leaf
into the pack. I was using jackstands and the whole bit, I simply
couldn't do it. It looked like w/o (imo) removing the leaf pack and
repacking it, it could not be done. This in itself isn't a big deal
(I don't think) except I couldn't break the hanger bolts as they are
quite big. Any insight on this???

The above was problem 1. Problem 2, is it also looks like I need to
extend the rear brake line. When I had the leaf ubolts off and axle
dropped, it appeared that given the degree of the new arch and the
tension already on the brake line at the dropped point that the line
is not going to be to short when all is done. Of course, this is
from an untrained eye and am relying on opinions/help from you all.
Does this sound right?

PLEASE….as I already have the front done and I really want to get to
the coves and help this weekend can someone(s) help me finish up
installing my Christmas gift. I'll supply the pizza and beverage of
choice.
Thanks,
Fergus

I'll second Joe's recommendation. I've pulled my tcase a couple times now
and its really easy to do.

There you have it. Joe having said that means that leaving it in is the
way to go!

Just kidding. I could not resist. LOL.

If it were mine to do I would yank it out and bench fit the SYE. The
first time. I'd want to do this to learn more of how it works and upside
down with bad angles would be tough. But on my second install I probably
leave it in if possible.
Just my opinion.

If you have a winch you really need the Yellow Top. The red top is not
designed for use with a winch. I bought my Yellow Top at (gasp) Desert Rat.
I got a decent deal after the AZVJC discount.

I bought an Optima red top at costco a while back for under a hundred
bucks. No special tools were needed to drop it in.
As for the yellow tops, I know Desert Rat in Tempe usually has them
in stock. I have no idea what they charge for them though.
