You are correct. The painters needed it immediately, so I only had time to add a couple of doublers (Thanks Chris Krieg!). I didn't end up welding the small crack but rather, just stop-drilled them. There were only a few and they are only cosmetic so I'll fix them later when I have more time. I didn't want to delay the painters anymore and I REALLY want my plane back!
Thanks for your offer of help John... I apologize for not getting back to you sooner.

Kind Regards,

Is that the rack that mounts to the tail gate or to the hitch? If it mounts to the tail gate, you will want to use some caution, I have no doubts that the rack will hold the listed weight, but I kow the tail gates themsleves can not, for very long. I have fixed ennough to know serious failure can happen. All though, I have noitced that the TJ tail gate is much stronger than the YJ gate.

Take care,

James,
I may show up for a bit. Just to check out the install. It can't be
harder then rebuilding the tranny. Are you guys going to leave the
transfer case on or pull it off?
Mike I don't think trading transfer cases will be worth it. You would
want to do that for a 4:1 install maybe. (unless your getting a transfer
case with less trail mileage.)

Mike,

I would recommend that you pull the transfer case before modifying it. I
think you'll find the job much easier to do that way... and the time to take
the transfer case out and put it back in is less than 30 minutes. I'd
recommend that you do yourself a favor and just take it completely out
before cracking it open.

yeah its the tailgate mounting style, and yeah I can see what you mean, it feels a little flimsy to hold 200lbs.
what ends up breaking? the actual hinge part? do they make heavier duty hinges?

Is that the rack that mounts to the tail gate or to the hitch? If it mounts to the tail gate, you will want to use some caution, I have no doubts that the rack will hold the listed weight, but I kow the tail gates themsleves can not, for very long. I have fixed ennough to know serious failure can happen. All though, I have noitced that the TJ tail gate is much stronger than the YJ gate.

Take care,
