I think you will need to remove the spring pack from the Jeep in order
to get the add-a-leaf in. The spring pack bolts are tight I had sprayed
them for 2-3 days before trying to get them off.

As for the brake line on my 95 XJ (with the rear stabilizer removed) the
stock brake line was barley long enough before the lift. I would
recommend getting a longer one. I don't know where to send you for the
longer brake line as mine came with the lift.

Subject: [az_vjc] Urgent, Lift help needed!!

I need you guys to come thru for me on this one…….PLEASE.

I want to hit the coves to help with the pull this weekend but here's
my issue.

I'm installing a lift on the xj. A daystar 1¾ lift spaceer and a
new leaf in the rear. I got the front spacers in and all done with
no real issues, first wheel took alittle longer than the second but
it is my first lift experience. I thought it was pretty simple for
being my first time.

The 2 problem I've encountered is with the rear are following: After
disassembling the u-bolts and the nut that holds the pack together I
can't get them to separate enough to get the new, nicely arched leaf
into the pack. I was using jackstands and the whole bit, I simply
couldn't do it. It looked like w/o (imo) removing the leaf pack and
repacking it, it could not be done. This in itself isn't a big deal (I
don't think) except I couldn't break the hanger bolts as they are
quite big. Any insight on this???

The above was problem 1. Problem 2, is it also looks like I need to
extend the rear brake line. When I had the leaf ubolts off and axle
dropped, it appeared that given the degree of the new arch and the
tension already on the brake line at the dropped point that the line
is not going to be to short when all is done. Of course, this is
from an untrained eye and am relying on opinions/help from you all.
Does this sound right?

PLEASE….as I already have the front done and I really want to get to
the coves and help this weekend can someone(s) help me finish up
installing my Christmas gift. I'll supply the pizza and beverage of
choice.
Thanks,
Fergus

Hey Mike,
Don't know if you saw Nick, too, but if you are talking about the
white TJ with a white soft top that you saw from the I-17 interchange
and then exited and headed south on 51st, that was me. I was heading
to a friends house. I used to live near 83rd and Deer Valley. We have
never met, but you picked up my old transfercase and skid plate from
my dad out there last year. Hope to actually meet you on the trail
someday.

Hi Gang,

If you are planning to go on the Axle Alley trip tomorrow, please respond to
this email. I'm trying to compile a list of names.

Unless anyone has any objections, we'll meet at the Texaco in Florence
Junction at 10:00am.

Joe West

Either way can get you there. But, in my opinion, tire "fitment" isn't
the only consideration. Performance should also be considered. If you
do mostly rock crawling, the SOA conversion is a good choice. It you
do other types of trails, the SOA may not be the best choice. Some of
my friends who has SOA Jeeps seem to have more trouble climbing steep
hills that my SUA Jeep climbs right up. My YJ has 3.5" lift springs,
1" lift shackles, 1" body lift, and trimmed out fenders with TJ flares
and I run 35's without any rubbing. I think CJ's take bigger tires more
easily than YJ's so it should be even easier for you.

My 2 cents.
