What should have been a 4 hour plug-n-play kind of project turned into a 12
hour marathon (not including lunch!). I learned more about Explorer and mid
90s ZJ disc brakes than I ever wanted to. LOL
But I think it was worth it, including the 12 hour round trip to CA to buy
the calipers (no....just kidding, but I did end up buying a new set of
calipers for the project once I got there because the NEW ones I bought here
in Phoenix ended up having a cracked piston).
The best part of the mod was getting to wrench with some of my CA friends.
We had a big Christmas party on Saturday evening....lots of food....lots of
fun.....lots of Jeepers and family members.

Stu,
Very Nice Setup! The best thing about it is that the emergency brake is
actually a drum brake inside the rotor so that your worries about having a
good working emergency brake when you need it are gone. Some rear disk
brake setups use hydraulic brake locks to lock the caliper to the rotors...
a very bad idea. Your setup uses a nice mechanical drum brake... foolproof
and reliable!
Very nice... you'll have to let us know how it works and whether or not you
can tell a difference in stopping power.

Have you done a compression test? I do not work on Jeeps, but i do work for a valley chevrolet dealer as a driveability technician. We have many problems with fuel injectors. You see, the poppet valves can and will stick. If this is your condition they will pass an electrical coil and field test but the misfire will still exist. if your injector is accesible with a screwdriver, tap the base with the screwdriver as this will often unplug the injector. ALSO-- do not count out a mechanical problem. have you done a
compression test or a cylinder leak down test. It is possible to get bitten in the *** chasing an electrical problem while the whole time there is a mechanical failure. Hope this helps. e-mail if you would like any other help. BBOWSKI66@aol.com.

mechanic friend with scanner as a misfire in # 1 cylinder. I can
feel the misfire, as it is rough at idle. He has checked the
injector, plug wires, plugs, cap, rotor. Any ideas as to what to
check next? Oh yeah, 87,000 miles, 15,000 on new plugs,
wires, cap, rotor. Any common failures with this motor and miles??????
Thanks in advance,

Probably a bad or fouled plug. Plug# 1 is the hardest to get to, but not a
real biggy.
Pull it and see. Might as well just replace them.

Hey!
That's the same job MY WIFE does for me!!!
I don't even have to ask anymore... all I do is stop and disconnect the sway
bar and she is asking me what pressure I want to go to. By the time I
disconnect and spend a few minutes chatting with the guys, I'm all aired
down! <grin>
Automatically...
All this PLUS... she cooks and cleans house and rubs my back and works 50
hours a week and...
<laugh>
Hmmm... maybe I ought to patent her... I'll call her:
Wifey Squid.
I'd like to see the Tire Squid even try to compete with Wifey Squid.

Jason Merrill lead a trail run Saturday, December 22, 2001 across Turkey Creek
we had a great time a few turn arounds due to not knowing where the trail went. One really tight spot we thought that It would eat a side wall or two so we went around. for a Jeep with a locker you wont need 4wd but its always fun to prented.... well anyways have fun.. p.s. there is a great spot to have a bbq at the bottom of a mine in the wash when you get to it you will see why. (dont snoop its an active mine)have fun and tread lightly
