I've not done the Squeeze yet. I wonder how it would do for a shakedown run?

I kind of wanted to keep it close to home and mild (just in case) but I need to get out somewhere :)

You wont have any issues with squeeze... I've seen lesser make it through

Shnipe, If my rig is done I'll be there for sure... if not and you don't have anybody on the shotgun I'll get my helmet and ride with you

I'm just being trepidacious (sp) as I want to take it easy the first run to test the flex and make sure everything holds up OK. Gotta gain some trust in the new suspension before I go back to the hard/fun stuff :)

Also, even with taking it out each evening to run the gears through some heat up/cool down cycles, I'll still only have maybe 100 miles (if that) on it by this weekend. Some folks say put some miles on it. Others say just drive it. For me it will be just wheel it :)

What about the clean up at TM?

Least ya could do is get some rockers. Maybe you can clean up enough glass to make a windshield while you are out there

K there are a lot of bypasses out at squeeze so I think you'll be able to test it on any level you're comfortable with... But use your best judgement; if you want to run something easier than don't sweat it; we'll get you out there when your ready...

I'm betting the mud is still gonna be an issue near the end and I don't think any of us will have a rig that will make it through or up and around... we can run it right up to that point though, flip a B and head back out...

K the only think I would warn you about is Shnipe... if your rig is purttier than his, he'll drive into it just to even it out... I'm the lessor of the two evils, but am not beyond slappin an ROC sticker on your junk when you're not looking :D

Squeeze would definately be a good place to text a rig like yours Matt. Its got a few rocks here and there and several spots to test the flex while maintaining 100% or so control of how far and fast it will flex. It also has some spots that should you really wanna give it a thorough testing you can beat on it pretty good too.

Junker Ashley asked if she can go again. Guess shes trying to make a good impression by showing interest in my hobbies :D haha so my passenger seat is tooken. But you knwo the deal mang, Come on out we will get you a seat :D If anything when we get to the really tippy stuff and she wants to get out (like normal) you can jump in either front seat. Maybe ill let you beat up my jeep a bit. Kinda like payback for all the damage ive helped add to YJunk :D

Bryan I hope you can make it out. Its been a long time since we have wheeled together bro! BlackYJ itll be nice to wheel with you as well if you can make it. I know youre a Sickamore Vet so its always good to wheel with peopel that might now a few spots taht i wont or to show some spots that arent already known.

I realize that this is the same day as the TM cleanup. While I advocate everyone doing their part to keep our areas clean, I am taking this weekend and allowing myself to actually enjoy my jeep in the area that I regularly do my part to keep clean. I dont really want it to become an issue but i have done a few cleanups and feel no shame in missing one.

I'm torn between doing the responsible thing (TM cleanup) and finally getting the junk ready (6 months) for a shakedown run. Saturday is the only day I'll have for another month.

TM is a cruise from here and takes forever in the CJ. I've only been there once before and it wasn't a fun trip in the old rattle trap. So to go there I'd have to drive the street car and forego the shakedown run. Or maybe flat tow the CJ up...

I'll decide one way or the other by Friday, but if I miss this cleanup I'll certainly show up at another and will spend time picking up garbage wherever I go (status quo).

Good on you, Shnipe.

Dont start Mr Shamrock!! :D I STILL have trash floating around in my jeep that i never picked out of it from the last sycamore trip i went on where picked trash up. I carry a roll of huge garbage bags and ALWAYS do my part to keep areas clean. I can say without shame that i KNOW my part is more than covered when it comes to cleaning trails. i have already explained myself in this matter. Its up to each and every person to be accountable for their own actions and whether or not they should or shouldnt attend the cleanup. We originally intended this run to have not been posted. I guess it should have remained that way. I feel it is a great opportunity to expose others to an area that i enjoy wheeling in more than any other area and in the end it just might bring more people out to THIS cleanup thata otherwise might not have attended the TM cleanup.

Joe and themud,
Squeeze has been done by people on 32s and open open before. with the easiest of obstacless being taken im confident it wouldnt be more than a 3.5. It has its opportunities to allow you to push your rig to its very limits whether that be 3.5 or 4.5.

Hey Simon. If you happen to make it out there... ive got something VERY special that will suit your type of wheeling :D SHHH its a secret :D But you might be able to put on a small show

Sorry guys, I'm out for this run. After discussing with others in the know, I need to get some street miles on the new gears before I go wheeling and take a chance messing them up.

I'm going to drive the junk to the TM cleanup - round trip from Gilbert will put LOTS of miles on them - and help out. Then, between now and my next free weekend (mid Dec) I should have plenty of miles on them to be OK. Better safe than sorry...

Have fun and post pics!

Ive left my jeep there on previous runs and it was untouched. then again it was a friday and no one was there :D and it IS MY jeep we're talking about. its not the prettiest of jeeps. That being said the quad riders park their rigs there every weekend and no one ever effs with them. If you are that worried about it... drive it all the way in wit us and leave it just outside squeeze rock. There are a few guys parking tow rigs with us so you will have a choice of where to leave it.

Ok, everybody here it is - the video clip of Shnipe rolling his Jeep. Glen Reams got his cell phone cam out just in time and got it! Great job Glen! I did the best I could converting it to a format I could upload, the original being '.3gp' format  and very small. The rollover was actually fairly graceful and nobody got hurt. Nice job Shnipe! :)

Itll come up. Try again.

this is the left line at the upper water hole. I wasnt so sure my jeep was capable enough to make it up there in the first place but it was doing pretty damn good till i started walkin towards the right. I backed off the second ledge and tried to move around to get a better line and just found myself teetering on the edge. No way to get out of it so i just sinched down the lap belt, leaned over to the passenger side and grabbed the OH ISHT handle. Gave it a nudge backwards and down she went.

VERY minimal damage. Small dent on the right side of the windshield frame. folded the pass fender in a bit, and one small dent on the driver side hood. My poison spyder cage worked phenomenally. Damn thing didnt move a bit!! Thanks Nick :D Think it took 5 or six guys to push it back over then as the picture Ryan posted i used my Ninja Chi powers to finish pushing it over.

Yes this is going back on its wheels. It didnt keep going like it looks as though its gonna do. it came back down.

I have some pics of the rest of the day. Some of them Daniel said i cant post cause Amy cant see the damage :D Damien is the pimp of trail repairs! This was prolly just about as good as the recovery 101 trip with all crap that happened!

WHEN DO WE GO BACK??? :D

Here's some of my pics for the day. A great day, too, with the perfect weather and a big turnout for this run - I don't know exactly how many showed up. We played at Squeeze about 4 hours I think. Spent a little time helping Daniel with his rig. Hey Daniel, that was a worthy effort on that obstacle - made for some great pics! And you learned a little about your Jeep, too. Damien, I loved your precision tie rod trail repair! Our highlight at Squeeze was learning that Shnipe likes wheeling upside down! Jeez, install a roll cage and he wants to use it to take a new line! After Squeeze, Glen Reams and I decided we hadn't had enough yet, and in a round about way we ended up at the bottom of Rocker Panel Pass. Glen had his XJ with open diffs and 28" tires so I wasn't sure if he wanted to attempt it, but he was ready to try. After about 9 attempts at the very first obstacle, I figured it just wasn't gonna happen, but Glen wouldn't give up. He shifted over to a totally different line and finessed his way up. Hit a few more problem spots and took a little body damage on his rocker panel but totally conquered the pass! Made for good long day of wheeling.

Whoa the resemblance (from the side) of that perticular obstacle to the one at Spare Tire Canyon(off FR42) is amazing. Funny a guy there got stuck but on the big rock itself.

Something about that sandy, silt iSht makes squeeze a little deceiving... Both Shnipe and I have gotten stuck is some really wierd spots. I know I've been stuck right around that same area before (more than once). You'll get through a part of the trail that might actually be rated a 3.0 and then find yourself high centered on a rock you didn't even see twenty feet later...

If there was any good news there, just fifty yards up the creek Daniel was stuck so you didn't miss anything and didn't hold anyone up... All that aside it was still a pretty enjoyable day; had a good time sittin on the rocks watching everyone wrench on their junk.

The little yellow square in the reply to thread box, clickit and copy your image location address into that. You get the image location address by right clicking on the enlarged image in photobucket and selecting the "copy image location" that pops up.
