Joe beat us all to it. That's probable all it is. The sway bar floats in the
bushings and when disco'd, it'll move on you.

Anyone else have Christmas Eve off and interested in looking for some
snow up by Crown King?
I've got the day off and the kids want some snow for Christmas. I
want to go up the back way (from Lake Pleasant), but will be moving
along without stopping much. I plan on being at the top of the
mountain around lunch time.

Subject: Exploring
Is anyone else out there interested in getting together for exploring
off the beaten track in stock jeeps? I moved to Az in April and had
been checking out the Superstition Mts for hiking. Tried to get to
Tortilla Trailhead and saw passenger tire tracks above those rock
steps-couldn't believe that anything short of a monster truck could
climb that stuff. My future son-in-law showed me how to do it in his
Dodge Ram (lifted, with grabber tires).
The wife wanted a SUV so we got a Jeep Liberty-made it up FS 213 with
NO problems two days after taking delivery. Since then, we've gone to
Woodbury Trailhead up FS 172, didn't even need the 4-wheel drive.
Tried the San Tan Mountains past the gravesite, but didn't want to
push it alone. Went to the Box Canyon from the Florence side and had
no trouble until a Chevy Suburban got stuck on the boulder and was
busy building a ramp to get clearance. Fortunatly two guys in
modified Jeeps showed up and helped unstick the truck. They went over
it and guided me over, then I followed them out of the canyon and
they were nice enough to give me directions toward Hwy 60 as thay
were headed for the Coke Ovens.
I learned alot from that; you're never out of material to build a
ramp over obstacles and that there are some nice, helpful people out
there on the trails.
My question to the club is: Are there any out there like me who just
want to explore the back country and aren't prepared for the hardcore
rock climbing trips I see in the reports and photos? I've got several
forest service roads in mind that I'd like to explore and welcome
some company. Any interest?

I'm reposting this since the old ad timed out and I dropped the price.
Info:
Since I installed the snorkle and custom intake system, I have a Turbo City intake airtube and matching K&N; filter for sale. The tube sells new from TC for $74.95 and the filter sells new for $39.95. The $60 is for both items together.
The only thing I do not have for the airtube is the connector tube that connects the airtube to the throttle body. I used it on the new intake system. You can get a new one from Turbo City for about $10.
This is for the 4.0L TJ. I'm not sure if it will fit other applications

Subject: Rear trackbar bracket breaks again
Hello,
I went out to the White Tanks and as I finished Appetizer (which is only 5
minutes worth of trail) the guys behind me (Joey K, Chris B, and Jake W.)
noticed my rear trackbar hanging kinda of low. It turned out I sheared the
bracket off on the axle end. (Again except in a different spot.) I thought
the rear end was feeling sloppy as we drove out to the trail but a quick
inspection turned up nothing that was evident though on hindsight it
probably was already compromised at that point just not easily visible under
all that dirt under there. The other guys thought it probably sheared on the
first obstacle.
Good news though! I spent the rest of the evening fixing it. I got the rear
trackbar axle bracket all welded up with the mighty Lincoln wirefeed and
added some pieces of 3/16" plate in a couple spots to help strengthen it a
bit. The metal just sheared right off above the upper arm bolt. This is the
second time it has broken. The first time it tore right off the axle tube.
On the bright side I had welded the RE relocation bracket on and none of my
welds failed. <Grin> All of the welds that Bill Mish did last time it had
broken were still holding strong as well.
I know it will break again down the road. I'm thinking about eliminating the
upper axle brackets and triangulating my upper long arms. This will allow me
to toss the rear trackbar for good. I wonder how busy John @ Hunter is these
days? (I also wonder if he's forgiven me for being so critical of JW's
crossmember the first time around ;)
For those of you lifted, locked and running 35" tires keep an eye on this
bracket. Quite a few of us have broken it.
Happy Holidays!

Subject: RE: Front Torsion bar off center.....help
Although I have never heard it called a "torsion bar" (actually it is
better know as an anti-sway bar), yes it does need to move within the
bushings. On the road, when the front suspension droops or compresses
going over dips and the like the axel will move left or right dictated
by the track bar. The anti-sway bar needs to compensate for this to
eliminate bind. It does not move much. It may make it easier to
disconnect, to check that the anti-sway bar is centered before
disconnecting. To move it I use a large screw driver and pry it to one
side. As Joe W. suggested soap will work and I believe they sell
brackets with grease zerks so you can keep them slippery.
The second question I don't think is a natural thing for a TJ to do. By
"dive to the right" do you mean the steering turns right or the Jeep's
right side tilts down? In either case things I would check are the
alignment and loose bolts. After two weeks you may consider taking the
Jeep back to the shop and have them check the torque on the all the
bolts. Suggestion, I would watch them carefully and ask for the specs
because you may want check these after trail runs yourself.
Hope this helps.

YES. There are several that lurk looking for this type of opportunity.
It is not often that people post scenic trail runs. But they do happen.
I always welcome the opportunity to check out scenic trails. Actually I
wish more were listed on the website. If there were I am sure they would
get posted more often.
I will mention that building ramps when necessary is fine but remember
to try and leave the trail like you found.

Scott, have you looked into the Rock Krawler rear upper Tri-Link?
They sell just the link & bracket separate. I put one on my TJ &
threw my rear track bar in the garbage. I haven't had any problems &
it works great. Awesome flex. I hear they changed the design a
little. Something about using johnny joints now instead of heim
joints. Much less hassle than doing triangulated uppers. It would be
worth giving them a phone call IMO. Hope this helps.

sulfnbk.exe. It is on ALL systems, you NEED this file!! IF you did
delete it, goto Norton.com and read the recovery for it.

Subject: Re: Rear trackbar bracket breaks again
Scott, have you looked into the Rock Krawler rear upper Tri-Link?
They sell just the link & bracket separate. I put one on my TJ &
threw my rear track bar in the garbage. I haven't had any problems &
it works great. Awesome flex. I hear they changed the design a
little. Something about using johnny joints now instead of heim
joints. Much less hassle than doing triangulated uppers. It would be
worth giving them a phone call IMO. Hope this helps.
Good day & happy holidays
