Off topic but since a desert marathon was brought up...

http://www.badwater.com/

Covering 135 miles (217km) non-stop from Death Valley to Mt. Whitney, CA, the Badwater Ultramarathon is the most demanding and extreme running race offered anywhere on the planet. The start line is at Badwater, Death Valley, which marks the lowest elevation in the Western Hemisphere at 280’ (85m) below sea level. The race finishes at the Mt. Whitney Portals at nearly 8,300’ (2530m). The Badwater course covers three mountain ranges for a total of 13,000’ (3962m) of cumulative vertical ascent and 4,700’ (1433m) of cumulative descent. The Portals are the trailhead to the Mt. Whitney summit, the highest point in the contiguous United States. Competitors travel through places or landmarks with names like Mushroom Rock, Furnace Creek, Salt Creek, Devil’s Cornfield, Devil’s Golf Course, Stovepipe Wells, Keeler and Lone Pine.

This years race took place on July 24, 2006 and went for 60 continuous hours after the competitors individual start time.

The one I posted about, it is but it's longer... like 3 times and in the dead of summer in Death Valley.

As for TM, this thread was the first I had heard about a "marathon".

Below is a quote from another thread listing the trails for Saturday. Sunday they'll be in TM and I'm pretty sure terminator and judgement day are on the list. I've never witnessed any of this, but it's a big desert...

There is going to a lot of people out there, it is the Udertakers marathon weekend. They are running these trails in that order all in one day you will see a lot of vehicles back there. I wish I could go but I dont want to break again before Parker. Just got it back together today.
1) Lower woodpecker
2) Woodys Wash
3) Upper woodpecker
4) Highway to Hell
5) Upper Ajax
6) Axle Alley
7) Overdose
8) Bad Medicine

Have fun
Kyle
