David,
I have one suggestion for you:
Get zero deductible glass insurance... change companies if you have to.

Call Flanders Glass on East Washington in phoenix they will put one in for around $100.00 602 254-1079. We use them for our commercial trucks and the quality is fine.

OK, I broke it on the Martinez canyon run, and it's really bothering me.
So I want to replace it. My insurance doesn't cover glass.
I first thought about Plexiglas, but that is too soft and will scratch. I called a glass place and they said for a DOT approved glass would run me $350
So pro's/con's suggestions?

Check with a place called Flanders Glass in Phoenix.
They are on Washington and 18th st, SE Corner (1801 E
Washington) I took the whidsheild frame from my M38A1
(really a early CJ5 frame) and they charged me $93 for
new glass and rubber installed. I was very happy with
the price because it was 1/2 of the next lowest bid. I
just talked with them and the quote a wrangler glass
at $135 used and $190 new. These are the discount club
prices. They work with some of the Jeep tour companies
and stated that we could get realitvily the same
pricing.
Here is their number, Give them a call.

I went down to ORU and almost bought some Tera rear shock relocators, they

And on a third note, Tony at ORU said that Dick's doesn't balance their
completed drive shafts, they don't have the equipment to do so :(. This is
not a good thing. He said, they (ORU) stopped using them for that reason.

Hello All,
Joey Kulich is leading a Gila Monster trail run on Saturday, December 22, 2001.
When: Meet at 8:30 AM leave at 9:00 AM
Where: The gas station at Jackrabbit and McDowel. On the north side of the free way.
Rating: 3.0+
Length: 4 hrs (dep. on # of Jeeps)
CB Channel: 4/ FRS 4
Gila Monster is a short wash in the Buckeye hills. There are a few obstacles with a couple of bypasses. I am recommending 32" tires or better with decent lift.
We will be heading to Cheap Trick for those so inclined. Cheap Trick is much more difficult. 35s, f/r locker, and substantial lift is required. Winch is recommended but not necessary.

Subject: i am SOOO lucky, thanks desert rat.
ok heres the deal...i was fortunate enough to be let out of jury duty
earlier than expected. so i got in the jeep to go back home (mesa)
on the way home the jeep was feeling alittle bit squirly. so i pulled
over and inspected all of the welds, ubolts, shocks, and wheel
bearings. all of it looked fine. so i got in the jeep and was
driving the last three miles home. then about a mile from home at
the intersection of broadway and alma school it was all over the
road. i applied very little brake and started to merge off the road
to an enterprise parking lot. when all of a sudden, "bing, crash,
snap, grind, ka-pow. i was cruzing three-wheel motion. i skidded off
into the drive way of enterprise with all tires minus the left rear.
i look to my left and there goes my 35" bfg mt on 15x8 outlaw 1's
full speed to the intersection. i jumped out of my jeep so fast i
forgot to turn it off and put the break on, dont worry it wasn't
going anywhere. here i am chasing my 35 down the street and i caught
it just before it went into the busy intersection.
so i went back to the jeep and saw that i had no lug nuts, my studs
were still there, but no lugs. i had just gotten new rims put on by
discount tire, a week ago. they will be getting a visit from me, you
can be sure of that.
i didn't have my hi-lift with me, friend borrowing it, but i was only
200 ft from desert rat. an attendant at enterprise saw the whole
thing and gave me a ride home, a mile away. i got the wifes car went
to desert rat. got to desert rat told the bro i had an emergency, no
hi-lift and no lug nuts. he went to the back and brought out some
lugs, and said leave me your credit card and i will let you borrow a
new hi-lift. THIS WAS SO NICE OF THE GUY.
called a friend and he was there in about 5 mins. put the tire back
on took some witnesses names, and drove home.
i am sooo lucky to have had no cars or pedestrians around at the time
of the incident. or to be driving 70 mph on the freeway. and the
nice guy at desert rat who went totally out of his way to help a
total stranger yet fellow wheeler out. and a cool friend who dropped
everything and hauled *** to help me out, can't forget the attendant
at enterprise who gave me a ride home. so i was lucky today, i guess
i had some extra karma today :)
thanks for listening...dont forget to torque those lugs after you
drive 25 miles from having the wheels off.

1988 commanchee 4cyl 4 spd 2wd it is a short bed the body is in great shape &; it runs &; dives pretty good also. It failed emmisions a while back &; I have not had the need for it or the extra money to look at it. it is blue with a tan interior.
Let me know if anyinterest I wanted to try here before going to autotrader.

I know there was dozens of post on this, and I just got home to read the
mail, and wanted to share my story. I'll try to keep it short.
Back in 70, I was just out of the service, married and wife with child,
soon to be had, when I pulled into a Maverick gas station on Thomas for gas.
It was about 10 PM and as I stood there pumping gas, I looked into the
station and saw 2 black men and the attendant. Not really paying to much
attention to what was going on, one of the men, really a boy, came out and
removed the cash out of the cash drawer in the little house for the
attendant. I wondered why he would do that, when usually the attendant just
took the whole cash drawer back in when they closed. DAAAUUU! Anyway he went
back inside and then the two men walked around the corner and the attendant
came running out to me yelling he had been robbed, and they had guns.
I jumped into my truck and told the wife to get in the floor and followed
them, all the time wishing I still had my M1 carbine that I usually carried
in the rear window, knowing I would have tried to stop them. I followed them
at a distance until they ran down an alley. I them returned to the station
to talk to the cops.
After thinking about what had happened for a day or two I suddenly realized
what I had almost done. If I'd had my gun, I would have done something very
stupid, even more stupid that what I had done by following them.
I would have tried to stop them, risking my life, my wife and unborn son's
lives, and the two robbers lives, all for a few dollars as they only got
$65.00. I could have gone to jail if things had of went the wrong way also.
It really wasn't worth it, was it? No one had threatened me or my family.
The robber who came out to the pumps had even smiled at me.
I still carry a gun, but I have a clear head about when I'll need it and
when I won't. There is a lot of responsibility in carrying a gun for
protection and IMHO, anyone who does should go through the Concealed Carry
course for their own benefit.

Nick,
I suspect that our Discount Tire advocate Rick Beer will be somewhat
interested in this story.
I spent some time talking with the manager of Rick's store; and this is a
topic we discussed at length. Discount Tire takes these kind of mistakes
seriously... as they should since our lives depend on it.
Good thing you were not hurt.
Could you please tell everyone which Discount Tire you went to?
Kind Regards,

As a counter point.
1997, I was at my bank in a fairly good part of town. Sat morning around
10am. I had been working out and was wearing shorts and a tanktop. 6'3" 275
lbs..in shape (hard to imagine). After cashing a check I walked out to my
truck. As I crossed the parking lot I notice a W/M 5'10 and scruffy angling
towards me across the lot. About 40 feet away I saw him pull a pistol from
his pants. I opened my truck door and pulled my backup gun from the door
pocket. (Ruger SP101 357, Named Fluffy) He was still moving towards me and
had the pistol pointed at me. I ducked below the door and swung around the
edge to engage him. When he saw my weapon come around he dove under the
front of my truck and ran away across the street. He was going to shoot me,
I am sure of it.
He was not found after K9 and air looked for him for hours.
So, you never know, and being prepared both with the right tool and training
lets you have choices instead of none. I am sure he did someone else another
day.

They are on Washington and 18th st, SE Corner (1801 E
Washington) I took the whidsheild frame from my M38A1
(really a early CJ5 frame) and they charged me $93 for
new glass and rubber installed. I was very happy with
the price because it was 1/2 of the next lowest bid. I
just talked with them and the quote a wrangler glass
at $135 used and $190 new. These are the discount club
prices. They work with some of the Jeep tour companies
and stated that we could get realitvily the same
pricing.

I just got the windshield redone on my XJ yesterday. I do have full
insurance coverage, so I'm not sure what the actual cost was on the glass,
but the guy does great work and I would highly recommend him. Here's his
info:

I hope he can help.

OK, I broke it on the Martinez canyon run, and it's really bothering me.
So I want to replace it. My insurance doesn't cover glass.
I first thought about Plexiglas, but that is too soft and will scratch. I
called a glass place and they said for a DOT approved glass would run me
$350
So pro's/con's suggestions?

I just wanted to say thanks to Brian, I got my SYE today. I wanted you all
to know that I emailed Brian and told him if he needed, I would send him up
$10 so he wouldn't loose money on the group buy. He declined my offer and
wished me a Merry Christmas. What a guy, Merry Christmas to you also Brian
and everyone at AzVJC. It has been an awesome year for me and Jeepin'.
I went down to ORU and almost bought some Tera rear shock relocators, they
will be there tomorrow.
And on a third note, Tony at ORU said that Dick's doesn't balance their
completed drive shafts, they don't have the equipment to do so :(. This is
not a good thing. He said, they (ORU) stopped using them for that reason.

Did you call Dick's and ask them? I don't think anyone that has used
them has complained, and they stick behind thier work.

BTW, I called them yesterday, and they will be opened Friday and

Subject: [TR] Gila Monster - Saturday, December 22, 2001 - Reminder
Hello All,
Joey Kulich is leading a Gila Monster trail run on Saturday, December 22, 2001.
Winch is recommended but not necessary.

ok heres the deal...i was fortunate enough to be let out of jury duty
earlier than expected. so i got in the jeep to go back home (mesa)
on the way home the jeep was feeling alittle bit squirly. so i pulled
over and inspected all of the welds, ubolts, shocks, and wheel
bearings. all of it looked fine. so i got in the jeep and was
driving the last three miles home. then about a mile from home at
the intersection of broadway and alma school it was all over the
road. i applied very little brake and started to merge off the road
to an enterprise parking lot. when all of a sudden, "bing, crash,
snap, grind, ka-pow. i was cruzing three-wheel motion. i skidded off
into the drive way of enterprise with all tires minus the left rear.
i look to my left and there goes my 35" bfg mt on 15x8 outlaw 1's
full speed to the intersection. i jumped out of my jeep so fast i
forgot to turn it off and put the break on, dont worry it wasn't
going anywhere. here i am chasing my 35 down the street and i caught
it just before it went into the busy intersection.
so i went back to the jeep and saw that i had no lug nuts, my studs
were still there, but no lugs. i had just gotten new rims put on by
discount tire, a week ago. they will be getting a visit from me, you
can be sure of that.
i didn't have my hi-lift with me, friend borrowing it, but i was only
200 ft from desert rat. an attendant at enterprise saw the whole
thing and gave me a ride home, a mile away. i got the wifes car went
to desert rat. got to desert rat told the bro i had an emergency, no
hi-lift and no lug nuts. he went to the back and brought out some
lugs, and said leave me your credit card and i will let you borrow a
new hi-lift.

Subject: Re: ........GUNS----->Please read this
I know there was dozens of post on this, and I just got home to read the
mail, and wanted to share my story.

I am sure he did someone else another
day.
