Dont forget to sign up on the AZVJC web site so I can have a head count. Thanks

The Gist.. :)
Welding 101 Workshop.

Watching a DVD on welding. Also, tips, tricks, and hints given by "Hunter". Cover how to tune machines, prep work, how to read welds, etc.

What to bring..
If you plan on welding or getting close to it, wear pants and closed shoes. No sandals. Long sleeve shirts or leather covers are not a bad idea either.

If you have welding equipment such as gloves or welding hoods, please bring them. If you have extras, bring those too for others.

I am limited on power so ..pretty much one at a time. But if you have a machine and would like to tune it, by all means bring it. MIG's only.

Im a guessing 2 hours. If we finish up short, great. If it goes long into the evening no worries. I plan on staying late so that everyone can get the info they need.

If you want to bring some beverages feel free. There is a fridge for just this kind of gathering. try to avoid bottles. Concrete floors and glass dont mix.

If you have some scrap steel to play with bring some small peices. I should have plenty for those that want to give a go.

And dont forget to bring your questions!

id love to join you
i can add a scrap body to play with but need the help to trailer it.
If nothing else, the scrap fenders can fit in the truck.
They would be great practice for filling rust holes.

I'm still a definite. My name isn't listed on the AZVJC site. I'm not sure how to add it there. Do I need to do that?

Holy Cow.. I am going to have to rent bleacher seats.

If folks want to show up early to hang out and catch up, go for it. Call doors open at 330.

If you can sign up on the list please do, if you cant, no worries. I just needed an idea of how mnay were coming. Looks like we could be pushin 18 or so. Should be fun. As a bonus, I will show you how to "Tan before a date useing a welder."

Well, just got home and I think I found my voice again. I didnt count (should have) but there was atleast a dozen folks who showed up. Just about everyone brought gear and came to listen to me babble on.

I want to thank everyone for being such a good group. I admit, with such a turn out, I was a bit nervous that things would flow smooth. With your help I think it did and hopefully, everyone learned something. No one fell asleep, so guess that is a good sign. :)

Thanks again and see ya at the BBQ.

Hunter,
Thanks a TON for the information and Demo!

For those of you who want to see a "backup" of the video on MIG and Flux core welding PM me. Some of the questions brought up are addressed in the video.

The best part was seeing the welding take place! Esp the thin to Thick welding.

The scariest part was the lag bolts welded in the ground down roll bar tubes. Good thing that cage is not in use any more.

See ya at the BBQ

John,

Thanks for the tutorial. Your information was very helpful. I'm guilty of 'overwelding', so that was the biggest lesson for me. I really appreciate that fact that you took time out of your evening to give everyone some helpful pointers. Thanks!

P.S. I got my driveshaft in when I got home. Greasable Spicers all around... :)

We have a pretty sick kid on our hands, poor little guy is puking every hour or so and having a bit of difficulty breathing.

Sorry I signed up as a definite and didn't make it John... Sounds like a missed a good one.

Sounds like what our kids had. They were both very sick but it only lasted a couple of days. Then my wife got it, lasted 24 hours...then I got it on Monday and thought I was going to die for about 24 hours as well. I was puking every 10 mins from about 7am until 4:30pm....the next day I was 100% like nothing happened. Strange stuff.
