This trail is listed on page 145 of Arizona Backroads and 4 Wheels Drive Trails. (http://www.amazon.com/Guide-Arizona-Backroads-4-Wheel-Trails/dp/0966497635/ref=sr_11_1/102-2191057-0544135)
It is rated as "Moderate". But it also says: "This rugged trail should not be taken lightly." So who knows. It is 25 miles one way, it is not a loop. So we will go back the way we came. Bradshaws Grave (http://www.wickenburg-az.com/?p=345) and several mines / Ghost Towns are along the route. Bring your camera.
Meet at the Shell station (I think it is a Shell, the one with the water feature) in Wickenburg at 9 AM.
CB Channel 4
Ham Freq. 146.520
Wickenburg is about an hour away from central Phoenix.
History of Wickenburg, AZ (http://www.outwickenburgway.com/henry.asp)
We will be stopping along the trail for lunch.
If anyone has info on this trial please post up. (I assume the road is open.)
If anyone knows it and wants to lead, post up.
If you wanna go, please post definate or tentative.
I see someone has posted Montana Mtn for Sunday as well. That is a great trail. I would join up with those guys but I have done that one twice in the last two months.

I led a couple stockers from work on that run last thanksgiving. We did constellation rd. to the end then back tracked to the turn off then cut across past the abe lincoln mine and swallow mine to bradshaws grave. from there went on to copperopolis and the UFO mine then south and east out the castle creek wash to castle hot springs rd.
It was about 57 miles on dirt (some of that was the backtrack)and took all day but we werent in an all fired hurry and I had done the copperopolis to castle creek stretch once before.
Take good maps. It was easy for stockers at the time but it has seen some flooding since then:confused:

I'd like to tag along - we've done Bradshaws grave and Copperopolis (sp?) but its too nice a day to ruin by staying inside...
Do you mind the geocacher stop or two? We missed the one at Bradshaw's grave (we were leading, and I was busy).
Sure,
A geocache or two would be fine.
Can you send me a link to the ones you have in mind so I can load them too.
If not, no biggie.

We read the post wrong, and showed up on Saturday - at 9:20, not seeing any Jeeps, not getting a response on either radio, we returned to Phx, via the back road to Lake Pleasant, and then up to Crown King. Stopped to visit the Abe Lincoln mine (not much there to see) and the Bradshaw Springs. Then decided to give the Crown King trail a run - got between a camping couple of Jeepers and a pair of XJs. Made the trip in record time - we were back home by 6:30.
What's in your mirror???

Van herpen, Bummer, lets do it next time.
Trip Report:
We had a great trip today. This is a very cool trail. Actually it is maze of trails out there. I took a few wrong turns but Jeff and his gang were pretty laid back and took it as "all part of the adventure." I will definatly be doing this one again and it will be much easier now that the track is in the GPS. See attached our GPS track overlaid on Google Earth. You can see Wickenburg in the distance. Cool Stuff.
Pics to come later.
