umm, ohh yeah, can I drink "beverages" on this run, or should I bring Diet Coke and Metabolife for my naturally slow disposition?

Bill,

I used to own a YJ when this group first started. The square headlights never bothered me in those 4 years.

I only traded it in because I really dig the girlie interior of the TJ.

Good day,

There are those who would say Scott Kruize suffers from:
S.H.E. = Square Headlight Envy.
S.H.I.T. = Square Headlight Information Turmoil.

Personally, I believe all Jeeps are great and have their own bandwidth in the spectrum of rock.
Pretty profound for a Tequila induced hallucination, huh?
I guess I suffer from T.I.T.S. Tequila Induced Typing Syndrome (Guess I can't keep my mouth shut!)

If I remember correctly, the recall was for the gasket - not the sending unit.
So, by definition, they should have replaced the gasket if you had the recall
work done.

Hello All,

Joey Kulich is leading a Gila Monster trail run on Saturday, December 22, 2001.

When: Meet at 8:30 AM leave at 9:00 AM
Where: The gas station at Jackrabbit and McDowel. On the north side of the free way.
Rating: 3.0+
Length: 4 hrs (dep. on # of Jeeps)
CB Channel: 4/ FRS 4

Gila Monster is a short wash in the Buckeye hills. There are a few obstacles with a couple of bypasses. I am recommending 32" tires or better with decent lift.
We will be heading to Cheap Trick for those so inclined. Cheap Trick is much more difficult. 35s, f/r locker, and substantial lift is required. Winch is recommended but not necessary.

This trail is rated a 3+ with optional 4+ to 5's. There are several lines to take so anyone equipped to handle a 3+ can do this trail.

Subject: Automatice and manual trannies - TJ's

I'm starting to really seriously toy with the idea of swapping an auto
tranny into my '98 TJ that currently has the AX-15. Soooo a couple of
questions come immediately to mind:
- Would anyone be interested in the AX-15, clutch, etc. once, and if, I
remove it.
- Are any of you auto TJ's looking to change and maybe would be
interested in working out a swap.

Cheers,
Fred

You might want to consider the AW4 from an XJ, I am not sure what is
involved with it or if it would work. It has an overdrive as opposed
with the TJ TF999 that doesn't.

I failed the pressure test today at the emessions place. Who knows what all the causes are? I checked out the hoses leading from my tank to my fill spot and put a silicone seal around all the ends of the tubes. Where else can there be pressure leaks?Nick

Guys,

It is about time that people have shown an interested in running this trail. I am in, however, since i've done this trail awhile back with Ross Skinner (as a trip leader) and few others I can not recall how to get to the trail head. As long as somebody knows how to get us there I don't mind be a leader. BTW, Scott, you're right about having either teralow4:1 or atlas, locked f/r, 35" tires or higher, a winch and spareparts on this trail because they will definitely will come in handy although none of us has any major broke down on that trip. Joe (Flexy), good thing that you've invested in the Warner winch and let's put it to work on this trip.

How's about next Saturday 12/29 with an early start (8am)? Meeting location is TBD. Any comments or suggestions?

From what I've heard we need at least 33's (35+ preferable) , traction devices front and rear, and a 4:1 low range (or auto tranny). A winch is required and you should also carry spare axleshafts, ujoints, etc and the necessary parts to repair them. Oh yeah, don't forget your cajones.

So far Flexxy, Joe W, Chris K, Stu O, and myself have expressed interest in going if we can find a trip leader and an acceptable date for all. (Stu, I don't think there will be any strippers so quit thinking like that ;) Joe W, leave your thesis on impedance at home, I don't want to have to pry you and Stu apart.

That was a purely financial statement. Looking back it would have been more
cost effective to go with a SOA, axle swap, and engine swap than to build up
the TJ. The YJ was paid for. Had I dumped as much into it as I have the TJ
including payments I'd be way ahead of where I am now. If your Jeep is a
daily driver then its probably a wise trade since the heating and cooling is
much better as is the road ride and handling. If your Jeep becomes a trail
only rig as mine is then its probably not a good trade. In my case it was
supposed to be a daily driver but through a course of events I won't go into
was able get a different daily driver. It made sense at the time to trade
and I didn't have a clue I'd be getting another vehicle when I got it.
