I managed to fix My heater today! I unplugged the two hoses from the engine side and hooked up a water hose to one of them and pointed the other to the ground. Turned the water on full blast and after a couple of chokes and gags some really nast brown crap, lots of it came vomiting out of the core! I hooked the hoses back up. Started my engine and refilled the radiator properly. Turned on the heater and I got a welcome blast of hot air. It was so nice! I'm now back to burning off my right foot!

Yes, they did clamp something under the hood. I heard the lady commenting how she loved Jeeps 'becuase it is so easy to reach those things'. I didn't know then she was talking about my fuel line. They did take off my fuel cap and twist their own on with a sensor attached. Now that I know it goes from there all the way to the fuel line under the hood I'm gonna follow it around and see what I can find. I'm not sure how I'm gonna pinpoint a leak though. I'm not sure how I'm gonna get to the pump area....

Nick.....hold on buddy. I believe the "thing" they clamp off under the hood was the charcoal canister. It captures the vapors from your tank when your engine is not running. Once you start the engine, the vacuum pulls air through the canister and purges the vapors into your engine. Everything is burned up and you don't pollute the vapors to the atmosphere.
If you think about it....you would know that you had a leak in your gas line LONG BEFORE you ever got to the emissions station, if that was your problem. ;)

It is fr 650, then 172, then 8 takes you back to the higway just west of Superior. If you go past fr 8, back up the hill, it takes you on a long road through the mountains past a commercial mine and spits you out on highway 60 across from the powerline leap trail entrance (oak flat?). This is certainly a beutifull trail where you will most likely encounter snow espessialy if you continue past fr 8. The road past 8 is pretty long but more great scenery. These roads have a light rating but be aware that they have some bone jarring area's to them. I haven't seen it done but a little ways into 172, before you start the climb you can take a probably class 4 wash along side the road and exit on a hill climb back to the road.

I went into Toys R Us today to meet Joey K and found him bent over looking at some toys. I can tell you this, from that angle he sure as hell didn't look like anything I'd want as a mistress. I'd recommend you reconsider your nomination.
Joey suffers from Square Headlight Syndrome (S.H.S.) Much like those that suffer from Turrett's Syndrome he is known to curse loudly for no apparent reason. The real truth is those that suffer from S.H.S. are really cursing the day they bought their YJ. We all need to be a little more careful not to hurt his feelings.

Hello All,
Steve Schaefer is leading an Unspecified trail run on Saturday, December 29, 2001.
When: December 29, 2001
Where: Meet at the Florence Junction Texaco at 9:00AM
Rating: None
Length: 6 hours
CB Channel: 4
Montana Mountain Road, Forest Routes 650 & 172
This is a nice scenic run well suited for stock or slightly modified vehicles. The trial is rated 2.5 to 3.0 in most 4X4 books so it's not real difficult. It starts out near Superior and heads up several switchbacks to some nice high elevations were we might encounter some snow. The trail then heads back down and exits back to Queen Valley Road which connects to US60 near Florence Junction. It is similar in difficulty to Box Canyon, Martinez Cabins & The Coke Ovens. This should be a nice relaxing post Christmas run. The AZ chapter of TTORA will also be along.

From what I've heard we need at least 33's (35+ preferable) , traction devices front and rear, and a 4:1 low range (or auto tranny). A winch is required and you should also carry spare axleshafts, ujoints, etc and the necessary parts to repair them. Oh yeah, don't forget your cajones.

Nick,
If your gasket is bad you would drop the tank, pull the sending unit, replace the gasket, and reinstall the sending unit. Its a very simple job except for the part where you have to drop the tank ;) Cost is minimal if you do the work yourself, which I'm sure you will.
If you decide thats the problem and need any help let me know. I haven't seen you in years. I doubt I'd recognize the Jeep anymore after the mods you've probably done. Heck, I might not even recognize you. Do you still have the long hair?
Take care,

I used to own a YJ so I think I at least deserve to throw in my 2 cents. I agree that U bolts would be better, and that the kit is VERY incomplete and doesn't address the issues you mentioned. I don't care how tight you bolt them on, if the Jeep gets wheeled hard enough those perches will rotate. It's better to weld stuff on whenever possible. I think this kit is pure overpriced crap.

If a TJ like Scott's can make it, surely your Jeep can.....Well, OK, TJ's are limited by their drivers, I've seen Doug B do things that might make Scott wet his pants......
Hehehe, Scott's sleeping now, that's how I'm getting away with harassing him so much without him responding.

Some of us got the bug to run Axle Alley but we need a trip leader. Sometime between Christmas and New Years would be best.<>smaller><>fontfamily>
From what I've heard we need at least 33's (35+ preferable) , traction devices front and rear, and a 4:1 low range (or auto tranny). A winch is required and you should also carry spare axleshafts, ujoints, etc and the necessary parts to repair them. Oh yeah, don't forget your cajones.<>smaller><>fontfamily>
So far Flexxy, Joe W, Chris K, Stu O, and myself have expressed interest in going if we can find a trip leader and an acceptable date for all. (Stu, I don't think there will be any strippers so quit thinking like that ;) Joe W, leave your thesis on impedance at home, I don't want to have to pry you and Stu apart. <>smaller><>fontfamily>

If you think about it....you would know that you had a leak in your gas line LONG BEFORE you ever got to the emissions station, if that was your problem. ;)

Hello All,
Steve Schaefer is leading an Unspecified trail run on Saturday, December 29, 2001.

So far Flexxy, Joe W, Chris K, Stu O, and myself have expressed interest in going if we can find a trip leader and an acceptable date for all. Nick,
If your gasket is bad you would drop the tank, pull the sending unit, replace the gasket, and reinstall the sending unit.

What's your vehicle specs?
If a TJ like Scott's can make it, surely your Jeep can.....Well, OK, TJ's are limited by their drivers, I've seen Doug B do things that might make Scott wet his pants......
Hehehe, Scott's sleeping now, that's how I'm getting away with harassing him so much without him responding.

Hey, how did I get in that. Axle Alley is a bit extreme for me still. I'm still learning the ropes.

Yup, definately the driver in my case. I need more stick time before I
tackle the really tough trails. The Jeep is probably ready though.

Bill,
I used to own a YJ when this group first started. The square headlights never bothered me in those 4 years.
I only traded it in because I really dig the girlie interior of the TJ.
Good day,

There are those who would say Scott Kruize suffers from:
S.H.E. = Square Headlight Envy.
S.H.I.T. = Square Headlight Information Turmoil.
Personally, I believe all Jeeps are great and have their own bandwidth in the spectrum of rock.
Pretty profound for a Tequila induced hallucination, huh?
I guess I suffer from T.I.T.S. Tequila Induced Typing Syndrome (Guess I can't keep my mouth shut!)

Jake,
I'm going to defend Joey K's good name from this vile attack by his "friends" and set the record straight ;)
