Sorry Randy, I guess some of us aren't "christians" so we couldn't be
too "christian like" I think the point is 2400 is quite a bit for a
christmas present tube bender that the only spec we have on it is 1
photo. I'm sure for the price it's a helluva bender!! I dont know a
single person that has that kind of equipment in a home garage!! :) I
guess you sure would be the envy of the club with one though!!! -Rob

Subject: RE: Clutch probs.
Nick,
I replaced the clutch slave cylinder in mine a few months ago. It was leaking. I would replace the fluid and when it got close to empty again the clutch grabbed near the bottom of the stroke. You had to press the peddle all the way or close to the floor to engage, that is if it would engage.
I recommend two things. First bleed the clutch and change the fluid. If you have to use vice grips it is something your are gona to have to do. Second remove the starter and that protector plate at the front of the transmission. The starter has two bolts and this plate if I remember right has four. Inspect the bottom for hydraulic fluid. You can run your finger on the bottom to feel for it. If there is fluid you will need to replace the slave cylinder.
If the fluid is ok, bled and not leaking, your clutch is probably spent. Which you can check while that plate is off.
There is no adjustment for play in the pedal. At least none that I could find.
Hope this helps

The last couple of days (cold?) after, driving a few my tranny gets harder and harder to get into gear. I can shift fine when it's cold but by the time I get to work I'm fighting to shove it into first. It seems it is also grabbing when the pedel is barely off the floor. It's just gotten like this the past couple of days.
I've checked the fluid and the clutch is about 2 years old. I tried to bleed it a couple of weeks ago but couldn't budge the bleeder screw!
A friend mentioned the possiblitly of needing to adjust the play in the pedel? Any other suggestions?

Im guessing $500-$1000 would be more along the lines of what any of
us would be willing to spend on equipment such as welders, plasma
cutters and benders.
Im sure the quality is terrific but for the occasional home garage
use, the model 3 from www.jd2.com would be hard to beat especially in
the price department.
Perhaps your friend could look into building a smaller, less
sophisticated, more affordable unit? Maybe something where the
hydraulics are an option we can add later ... on our own if we
wanted. Just a thought.

Honestly Randy I was just asking if that was what a real company built
bender goes for. When I get a rude remark sent to me off-list then I reply
to it off-list, as you already know partner. If anyone is interested I'll
see if I can find the drawings I had for the $50 dollar bender. Its not
nearly as nice a setup as Randy's but it gets the job done. I guess mine is
more for the budget minded do-it-yourselfer.

I used a sawzall, and a grinder. If you want to make it look good, you need to pull the metal stubs out from where the screws go in. You need to grind the rough edges around where you cut, and MAKE SURE you have support under the front rubber mounts (rubber bumpers) up front on the frame. If the rubber bumpers arent touching the frame, you need to cut some tubing and weld it on so your firewall dosnt crack where the supports run from the front of the jeep to the firewall. Also, the rest of the fender that is there will start to crease from all of the wind @ high speeds, and binding on the trails.
You might want to mask off, and draw out with a marker where you are going to cut first. The marker will help you guide the blade when cutting, and the tape will stop your paint from chipping. Remember to put some type of protective coat over the exposed freshly cut metal, or it will rust.
Good luck!

Mike, if you use a die grinder with a cut off wheel you will get a much cleaner job with out all the extra work involved with using a sawzall.

It's called a "Pull Pal" and comes in 3 sizes. I have the big one rated at
11,000 lbs. It is the same one the military use on the Hummers.
You can borrow it and try it out if you like. That goes for any of you in the

includes some maps, gps coordinates, trail rating and information.
Can anyone here please make several suggestions what to get and where
to get it? I live in the NW valley.
Thanks,
Brian

Mike,
You may also want to try a Dremel tool with the thin cutting wheels, it worked great for me and you will get a much cleaner job than you will with a die grinder.

Nick,
I replaced the clutch slave cylinder in mine a few months ago.

Good luck!

It's called a "Pull Pal" and comes in 3 sizes. I have the big one rated at
11,000 lbs. It is the same one the military use on the Hummers.
You can borrow it and try it out if you like. That goes for any of you in the

Subject: ------------Saguaro Lake/Coves to 4 Peaks
Hey everyone...I'm going to try to a do run and over night camping in
jan and was wondering if such a route exists(lake to peak)? Has
anyone done this, heard of it or otherwise, and if so would you have
details that you can share. I have maps but prefer any first hand
experience(s). GPS, FR's, etc. All the help is appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

Hi There!
I'm looking for a great off road or trail guide book for Arizona that
includes some maps, gps coordinates, trail rating and information.
Can anyone here please make several suggestions what to get and where
to get it? I live in the NW valley.
Thanks,
Brian

Mike,
You may also want to try a Dremel tool with the thin cutting wheels, it worked great for me and you will get a much cleaner job than you will with a die grinder.

Mike, if you use a die grinder with a cut off wheel you will get a much cleaner job with out all the extra work involved with using a sawzall.
