Picked up a set of hood vents, earlier this month, at the Off-road Expo in CA.
Fairly thick aluminum.....went on nicely.

Stu, That looks really awesome but my question is this. What is the function in them if any? Not that I'm knocking them at all. I would do it for looks alone and avoid the hole cutting. I ask because I plan on putting an oil and better tranny cooler on my YJ in the future. Mounted to the underside of the hood and use a scoop. But I like the vents.

Nice job Stu. I cut in some leBaron vents in to my XJ. Had a positive effect on the temperature!! :D

Of course, my hood needs some paint help from a rattle can or something!

I put them there to help flow the heat out of the engine compartment. I can't tell you how good or bad it works on the highway as I've yet to figure out a good method to evaluate it. I can tell you that at trail speeds, you can feel the heat radiating out of the vents.

Glad to hear it worked on your XJ. I hope the positive effect was not that it caused the temp gauge to increase in a positive direction.

Looks good Stu.
Me, I went with the stealth look, these are from a '88 Firebird Formula, $10 a pair on ebay. I considered mounting them longitudinally but ended up going with this faux ram-air arrangement. They snap right in once the holes are cut to the correct size. In the heat of the summer you can feel the hot air escaping. That clam-shaped hood does hold the heat in.
Someday someone needs to teach me how add a pic instead of just a file attachment...

I was thinking of taking a different route:

Or, to reduce the load on the eletrical system:
