John at Hunter built my front bumper and I love it. It's solid and will
hold up again the hit against a good rock. He also incorporated a 1/4"
steel plate to protect the steering box. It also has my KC light mounts,
tow hooks and is ready for the winch as soon as I get the money together to
get it. I have to say that it was a lot cheaper than $649. John's a get
guy to work with too. I think that we should look to using our local
fabricators when we can. Just my two cents though.

According to their site the one shown in the picture is either $649 or
$699. It is a very nice bumper I love the incorporated steering box
protection.

Mike,
There is a web site....something like tera server, or similar, that has the
high res sat images. It was a multi-year topo mapping project. It can be
accessed by the public and you can pull, as a non-paying customer, limited
photos. I believe you will need a lat and long to get a picture. A web
search should find you the URL.

Hey that's the right web page Stu. I use it here in the office on projects
every once in a while. They do change though and if your lucky you can get
one as current as 1998. Another thing that you can do though is National
Geographic has this awesome GPS mapping program out for the different
states. It's about $100 for the complete program, but it's well worth the
money. you can check this program out at World of Maps. There is a lot of
information than just that GPS stuff on those disk. The Terra Server web
page is www.terraserver.com .

Scott M,
The stock outer shafts out of a 95 YJ use the 297x ujoints. You can also get the Warn outers. I heard that Superior had some in the works though I'm not sure if they are out yet. You might want to post on the JU forum about this.
As far as the new Spicer 5-760X joints go I will be installing them into the front on my TJ D30 Friday night. Stu O is bringing by his nifty ujoint tool for me to try out. On Saturday Joe W is coming over so we can install the 5-760X joints into his D44 shafts. Both of us are replacing our 5-297X joints which are in need of replacement. I'm leaving the 5-297X joints in my spares until the time comes that they need replacing too. I got them at Four Wheelers Supply. According to Fourwheelers and a couple of websites they are a 20% upgrade in strength over the 5-297X joints though I've yet to hear that from anyone at Spicer. I'm positive they are a substantial improvement over your 260X joints.
I'll post some pics after I complete my install. Feel free to stop by if you'd like when we are working on them either Friday night or Saturday morning.
Later,

After I got off the highway tonight I reached back into the vent to feel the core and it was cold!

Scott M,
The stock outer shafts out of a 95 YJ use the 297x ujoints.
Later,
Scott K

Where is the cheapest place to get the upgraded axles for the bigger u-joints(297Xor5-760x) with the vac disco? I would like to keep the disco as I am welding the spiders and am going to use my posi-lock to disengage for turns. TIA

need some specifics. Anyone in Tucson with a pre90 YJ , with A/C, that
wouldn't mind me taking a look? Thanks for all the tips on mechanics
as well. Very happy I found you guys.

Sounds good to me. I can bring trash bags for the general clean up...if Len
can bring one big enough to put the burned truck in.

So is the plan just to drag this thing through the dirt and hills and stuff?
