View Full Version : Headin' out to BJ and the coves

Well, I guess its time to see what the KJ can do with the lift on. I'm going to take care of a couple of quick items then head out to the coves area. I'll probably be going in thru Butcher Jones, maybe see if I can find a desert tours Hummer to follow :D If anyone wants to come out and play I'll be the red Liberty, listening on CB ch.4.

I was thinkin of doing a little quail hunting (aka driving around, up and down hills and generally exploiting reason to go jeeping:D )

Um, I did that this afternoon. Lift seems to do its job, I feel a bit more flex in the suspension and I dont hit nearly as many rocks as I did stock :D Instead of going to the coves I went up the hill (YAY!) and out the Great Western Trail to FR143, then went out to 87 and back home. As I was contemplating climbing the hill I watched a metallic green TJ and a White TJ both go up it. After that I figured "hey, the worst that happens is you get halfway up, loose traction and back it down :eek: " But the KJ made it up just fine and I even had an audience - there was a young lady from the white TJ that was all happy and clapping her hands that I made it up :p Now to head out to the FJ area sometime and have some fun...

This is a view from the top looking south towards the lake - the coves are off to the left. Its the one you can see off to the north when you make the turn to go out to the coves. It was the last little bit of the Great Western Trail section out there that I hadn't driven. I had originally thought that I'd need to go up thru the cut (on the right in the picture) but once I saw that white TJ go up on the left side I figured I could do that and I did!

Hey I think my wife and I past you on the way out... We were in a forest green rubi heading towards the parking lot and you were coming up the first hill (I think)...

Was there a Ford pickup that decided to back up and not go down that hill? If so then yeah, that was me :D
