Despite me living in Tucson, 4 Wheel Parts has outfitted both my rigs with ARB lockers. My 2001 has operated flawlessly since install. The '97 I'd just built had a few issues. Here's how 4 Wheel Parts handled it:

While building the rig, the lockers/gears were installed early 2006.

Around June (my first 4-wheeling) I discovered a leaking rear axle outside seal. It looked like they silconed one side and not the other. It's the "other" that was spewing grease onto the outside of the rim.

I called Bobby, the manager. He did explain that the labor warranty was 90-days and that I was well beyond that time-frame. After some negotiation, Bobby said he'd pick up the tab on the seal repair and even if I had it done in TUCSON. I did that, and he kept his word. WOW! (Though I kind of expected some consideration as they may have re-used the original paper seal.)

Then, in September when I used my front locker for the first time (on Pyeatt Draw) we noticed it was spewing gear oil out the diff beather.

I again contacted Bobby. Against their company warranty policy Bobby said he'd check it out at no charge for me if I brought it to him. We did that. He found a problem within the actual ARB locker. He swapped some parts and a few days later it was done. I asked him for the cost for repair. He said NONE! WOW...KUDO'S TO 4 WHEEL PARTS on 7th street and I-17!

One last thing....I've seen several poorly mounted ARB switches. On both of my rigs, they did a superb job. No sloppy cuts, loose switches. These things look OEM! Look:

Well this is a first. I can't recall ever hearing a good word about any of their stores. I can however attest to their poor conduct and will never step foot in another one of their stores. If you had driven just a bit further; you would have hit 4 Wheelers Supply. The real deal...;)

Glad you are happy though and that counts the most. :)

Question: Do you think they (the installing dealer) should have taken care of this stuff even months after install? In other words do you think I got special or normal treatment? Thanks for your opinion!

I just think 4ws would've installed it correctly the first time, it's nice they took care of it, but wouldn't it have been nice for it to be right the first time?

Yep, same here. I got the run around the first time I used them and will never go back. After shopping around I also found their pricing is higher than most as well. They will price match but when I asked them to do this they were pissy about it and I spent 20 mins standing there while they "researched it". I was a bit disappointed and like I said will never go back.

I guess it's nice to hear something good about them... but like was previously mentioned most that I know have left with a bad taste in their mouth.

One more thing, a buddy of mine bought 4 32" tires from them on black steelies. He paid $200 more than I did for 5 (got a spare to) 33X12.50 MTR's on the same steelies (or similiar steelies but most are around the same price) at Discount. He too wouldn't go back.

I think it basically comes down to, not many if any actually like 4wp's around here, I've only ever seen complaints

We got nothin' in Tucson. I'veheard horror stories about Tucson Differential. I am tired of traveling to Phx for everything. :D

Yes, pending their findings. People make mistakes and should be willing to admit them and correct the situation. A good shop can certainly tell if you've abused the part in question of if they are at fault. The shops are the pros and that why we go there. If you noticed a problem months later; is it your fault? No. The pros should have caught it beforehand.

It's possible that 4 Wheel Parts is trying to turn their bad image around. :)

Good report, glad it all worked out for you. I too would recommend 4wheel Supply next time you are in PHX and need work done, or DesertFab if in the East Valley.

I wont even buy a tow strap at 4wheel parts.

4 Wheel Parts? They still have a store in the Valley?

2 with a rumor of a third.

Nice to see some more 'Cruisers around here. A FJ-62 owner here :)

By any chance are you related or know a Joe Shotts?

I had an experience similar to John and Becky....

When they installed my Rubicon Express long arm lift and did not weld the skid plate frame sleeves in as I had asked.... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 2 days)

When they improperly installed my Tera Low t-case.... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 3 days)

When they pulled my front driveshaft apart and put it back together out of phase which ruined the slip and stub... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 1 day)

When they installed my new gears and ARB front locker and the gears not dialed in right, which caused the thing to overheat and blow the ring and pinion on the street... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 3 days)

When they installed my new gears and ARB rear locker and they pinched the o-rings causing it to leak and need new o-rings... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 1 day)

When they re-installed my gears and ARB rear locker and the gears not dialed in right, which caused the thing to overheat and blow the ring and pinion on the street... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 2 days)

When they re-installed my ARB rear locker and put 4.56 gears in, when there were 4.88 gears in the front diff (luckily I noticed something was off in the RPM department before I shifted into 4 wheel drive)... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 2 days)

When they re-installed my ARB rear locker and they ruined the axle seal causing it to leak on the inside of the rear wheel... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 1 day)

When they put the wheels back on and only put the lugs on FINGER TIGHT and then sent me on my way which caused the wheels to nearly come off on the freeway and ruin the wheels and the wheel studs... I took it in and they fixed it no charge (Jeep in shop for 1 day)

When they installed my ARB wiring harness through a hole in the firewall with no rubber grommet which caused the wires to eventually wear through the insulation and short out... .... ... ... I fixed it myself.

They still have good prices from time to time, and I have swapped 2 sick ARB compressors and 3 sick steering stabilizers at no charge.

Bottom line, I have become very weary of letting anyone wrench on my Jeep but me. There are only a few shops that I trust at this point.... 4 Wheelers Supply, and DesertFab.

That says it all...but with respect to them, glad to see the problem was fixed appropriately.

I'll cross 4wp off my list.

I also choose to do most of my own wrenching. The little bit of work I paid to have done, I had done at 4 Wheelers and it was quality.

I really like your LX450 btw. Nice truck.

Well, the concensus sure is away from 4WP. Thank god the things working for now. :D

I have a friend who works at 4Wheel Parts... I still by my stuff from 4 Wheel Supply for DIY (if they have it or from POR... woops nick won't sell to me anymore, something about closed his shop blah blah) and am currently having my wrenching done at Desert Fab... 40+ freakin miles from my home!!!
