Hello, Here are some pictures of the Jeep Wrangler factory accessory GPS.
This is a Garmin unit with a docking system.
Thanks

Can I assume that this may work with my Mapsource Topo maps as well?

Hey Mike according to everything I've read you can use the Mapsource Topo Maps.

You will need to buy the TOPO source.
It is a great unit and very loud even with the top off.
This is the Quest 2 but with Jeep dealers preloaded
Unlike the Quest 2 you have a special mount for the center console.
I recommend it.

Cool, yeah, I already have the Mapsource Topo for my other Garmin handhelds... It's just a bit spendy though but I like the integrated look and the fact that it's wired for sound. Now, will it work with an aftermarket deck? I'm not sure how it hooks up.

The unit has sticky tape on the bottom of it and was meant to fit in the "tray" on top the dash of a TJ. The GPS unit itself comes out for safety.
They were selling these at the Off road expo for $750.

It includes a wire harness that plugs into the stock radio. The power comes on when you start the Jeep so I am sure you can use one of the hot leads if you want it always on.
It has two screws that hold it on to the tray. (you do have to drill the tray)

I have the same setup. The wires plug into the cigarette wiring harness, and it doesn't matter if you have the factory or aftermarket stereo. The speakers for the GPS are behind the fins on either side. You drill a total of three holes. Two for the screws that hold it down and one for the wiring harness.

So if the speakers are behind the fins are you saying that it doesn't "talk" through the factory speakers? I thought it did?

Nope, it has built in speaks behind the fins. Very clear sound and loud.
