This is a very scenic one. And I believe it is FR 41. The water should
be down so crossing won't be a problem.

Subject: Re: RE: RE: Compression ratio?????

Compression Ratios are normally specified as 8.5 to 1 or 8.5:1 or 8.5/1.
It is the difference between the volume of your cylinder at the bottom of it's stroke vs. what it is at the top.

Or ... How long was it since you ate that Bean and Cheese Burrito?

Now, if you know the density of air at sea level multiply that times the compression ratio ... that should give you a ball park SWAG as what the compression tester "should read"... Usually measured as PSI (Pounds per Square Inch) with or w/o a
"G" for Gauge...
SWAG = Scientific Wild *** Guess

Most engines have anywhere from "about" 125 psi or greater for the new high revving motors!

What you need to watch out for is, a VARIATION greater than about 15 psi on any one cylinder...

Could mean, but NOT always:
Bad Rings
Bad Valves
Blown Head Gasket
Cracked Head
Cracked Block

There is a right way and a wrong way to do a Compression Test ... and ways to check for the indicators above.

If you would like more info you can Email me off list.

Best of Luck,

I just got back from Chivo Falls and I did Charalou Gap a while back.
Both of these trails are very well maintained. Several rogue bypasses
were bob wired off and posted with restoration project signs. I also
noted that on the way in there were several areas that shooters
practice. Those seemed to be left as such.
If I was to suggest a solution for the table mesa area it would be to
leave some of the spots alone for the shooters BUT put a sign 3/4" thick
steel (simular to the one at Highway To Hell) cemented in telling them
to keep in clean or loose it. And some of the other spots, including
wildcat trails, bob wired off and marked as restoration project. NO I do
not mean put miles of bob wire on both sides of the trail just a good
length that would halt access to troubled spots.
Just my view point.

To lube them, you just need a grease gun and your favorite grease (I
use Mobil 1 synthetic).

Put the nozzle of the grease gun over the grease zerk (under the red
cap) and pump in the grease until you start to see it ooze out the
sides of the spherical balls in each joint. Repeat at every oil
change to keep it "fresh"

If you are going spacer lift dont get more then the 2" or 1 3/4" you
can also add a 1" body lift to it to squeese a little more rubber
under your jeep. With the right wheel you can get up to 33" tires
under that combo, so when you go to the RE lift you wont look like
you have donuts under it, and you wont have to worry about getting
another set of tires just after you bought new ones. You can get the
spacer lift from 4wheelers in phx off washington. When you do the RE
lift just take off the spacers, and leave the body lift on for that
1" extra!! -Rob

Hello,

Has anyone looked in to the possibility of get a permanent dumpster for the air down spot? Also, looked into anything we can do about all the trash left behind by some of the target shooters? Is there any way of educating these people not to ruin the natural beauty of the AZ desert (not there anymore). I have this vision of these people loading up there vehicle with what ever they are going to shoot at in the morning, heading out, and have the full intention of leaving it behind. Maybe posting a sign asking them to remove what they bring in. Every time I make a run up there I take something off the trail with me (last time it was an old FWD trans). Any comments or suggestions?
