I told my buddy I would take him and his two kids up to Crown King and was wondering if anyone would like to join us. I would like to hit most if not all the obstacles, but it depends on my buddies kids. I have ran the trail once before with a GPS, but there are no guarantees on how long it will take to run. I was thinking of hitting the trail around 8-9 am.

I think I may be into that ride
It took us about 6 hours last time I ran it about a month ago.
Bring a lunch and a light jacket

I have never done that one. My 8 YO would join us. How old are the kids you are taking?
I would want to take the TJ. 3.5" Lift, 31" tires, 35/30 open/open ok?

Your Jeep would do fine getting up to Crown King. You would have to take the bypasses and may have a little issue here and there depending on what tires you are running. Last time I went, I was with guys with 31's, 33"s. I am on 37's, but try to stay light on the pedal to avoid braking anything.

The kids are 4 and 6.

The last time I ran it was back in 1992 with a rented XJ and street tires. I did it 2 weeks later with a rented WJ and backed into a small pine tree wiping out the left rear tail light and messing up the bumper. The rental place was none to happy with me. Cost me $350 to fix it through their shop. The experience help me buy a used XJ which I ran for 3 years.

Is the road worse now? Back then it had ruts big enough a VW bug could get lost in. I'd like to go but I don't think my CJ-8 is in good enough trail shape just yet to make the run. How is the road?

The last time I ran CK, it was fairly smooth. I don't know what the rains have done to the road/trail since August.

It depends on how Friday goes for me. My dad went in for out patient surgery today and if he is not able to get around on his own I may have to push the date back. I will let you guys know if it is a "go" tomorrow. Sorry.

Meet at 7 at the air down spot which is where the pavement end. You go down the road past the ten lane and all the way to the "T" make a left and we will be right there.
