I was hoping for something more in the 3.0-3.5 range. Don't wanna hurt my stock Rubi if I can help it.....

Kevin,
Upper Woodpecker was my first night run with the group back in January. My Rubi was completely stock at that time, not even sway bar disconnects. I took bypasses for the major obstacles, but still had a lot of fun on the trail.
Hopefully someone who has run the trail since the rains will chime in about it's condition.

Ran Upper Wood a few weeks ago. Had a stock YJ on ~31's in the group. Piece of cake.
YMMV...but should be no problem if you stick to bypasses.

I think I laughed at you on the 101... :D You still have the paper plate on the back?
I only laughed because I did my old jeep the other way. 33's and no lift till I could get the $$ around for it. :D :D

I was out there a couple weeks ago and just like others have said i think youll be fine in your stock rubicon. We had a buddy with 28's on a taco who made it no problem but he had dual lockers. Due to the rains the trail has definitely changed from last year to make it more challenging. Just stick to the bypasses when needed.

OK, McGuyvr(Jamie) and I are going to do some exploring just east of Florence Junction. There are some trails and stuff that he and I have been talking about checking out. If anyone wants to go they can, but we make no promises about what kind of wheeling we're going to be doing or how long we'll be out there. We're just going to do some exploring and maybe some hiking around. We're going to be meeting at the 60 and Queen Valley road, about a mile east of the 60 & 79 interchange. It's right next to some railroad tracks. We're meeting there at 8am Sunday.
Post up or PM me if you want to join us.

It sounds like you guys are heading to the area of Montana Mountain on the north side of US60 and east of the superstitions. If so, the road will eventually take you up to pine country and loops east back down the mountain then south to US 60 just west of the arboretum near Superior. Its easy wheeling and very scenic.
After descending down on the east side of the mountain there is an old stone cabin near an old mine shaft worth exploring.
After the cabin there's another Forest road you can take to the left (east), I think it's FR143? This road will take you to the east and back up to the pines with a view of the copper mine in the distance near Miami/Globe. The road then descends back down to the desert near a salt mine where you follow the road south to US 60 just east of Oakflats/Hackberry Creek.
Very scenic area. I was thinking of leading a group of new Jeepers through there in the near future.
Have fun!:)

Jamie has something in mind out there and I don't think it's Montana Mountain. I don't mean to be so vague, but I'm just not sure where specifically he has in mind. That's why I wanted to post up and let anyone who was thinking about joining us know that we're just exploring(read: wandering around the freakin desert) not running something specific.
Hey desertdawg, if you decide to make that Montana Mountain run, let me know. I haven't run that one yet and I'd like to.
