I wasnt going to post up anything about our run last night as I dont think anyone got ANY pics...(Rob, did your wife get any)

But wanted to comment on these trails in the White Tanks....I hadnt been on any of these three trails...and only knew where lower Scorpion was from one of the mapping expeditions we did for the Buckeye regional park plans...

Anyway...Mike Varne, Wayco, Rob Deal and myself met at the airdown spot about 4:30p...got airdown, and set to go....(wannabejeeper had to watch football instead-so he missed a kickin' run :( )

We discussed what and where and headed out....for those that dont know, these 3 trails are on the west side of the main trail leading up into the canyon.

We set up to do Turtle Falls, then Intimidator and onto Lower Scorpion in that order...so up the trail to the 1st wash and made a left...took it up to the Y...to the right is Turtle Falls and leftish is Intimidator...we had decided to do Turtle Falls 1st, then loop around and do Intimidator and loop back to do Lower Scorpion last....

Turtle is basically just 2 nice sized waterfalls but not to eventful...but cool, then we looped back and up Intimidator...stopping at the top to check out the falls dubbed "The CAN OPENER!"...its a pretty good sized falls with a rock jetting out from the right side...the falls slopes down toward the rock..we opted out and took the early out next to it...apparently just up from that point is a trail called De-capitator...

So after climbing out of the wash...we headed back down and dropped into the 2nd wash and headed towards Tax Collector (right) and Lower Scorpion (left)...Lower Scorpion looks to be a kick butt trail, but we didnt get a chance to finish it...and it was getting late... Mike took the 1st to falls with ease...and made it look like a walk in the park for those of us on stock gears, no 4:1 TC and 33's..;)

So we will tackle it another day...when a little more time permits...we probably could have all done it but without knowing its actual length and some needing to get to work today...we called it short...

It was still a great run, with great people as usual...NO breakage, and NO problems....

Rob, If you got pics...send em to me, Ill host n post...

I've been up it many times, if you go to far right on the upper fall with a short WB I think you might go over on your top. Went up it once with Stu, he had some wicked air under his left front, but it did come down. Next time you go out post it up I'll go. :)

Yea Brad, that was a good run last night. Thanks for inviting me along.
I am also curious where you got all the info. on those trails. I thought you called it Turtle wash yesterday.
It was a blast watching everyone exit just below the can opener. I'm glad no one wanted to try it. It was hard to spot Mike's rig, he made everything look so easy, until we got to the double falls on lower Scorpion. Sorry we got you into trouble there Mike. I'm glad you could see that other line and got yourself out. Now that I've seen you do it, I would like to give it a try. Then we could see how far up the road is.
I didn't get any pic's, hope Linda got some.

Sounds like a great time Brad. I would have gone if i wasn't dedicated to the martinez run. You'll definitley have to show me intimidator and decapitator.
I have driven down the falls on lower scorpion but never up them. I can see that being real scary at night. I need to take a couple of weeks iff to do some needed maintnence then we'll have to go hit them. Glad you guys had fun. I'll catch ya next time.

I got the info for Turtle falls and Intimidator from JCSXJ....BigJims son..?? Is that right Big Jim...I think thats the relation...anyway..kudos to him for the many e-mails/PM's and GoogleEarth snapshots to find those...Id found Lower Scorpion as I said previously....

James (JCSXJ) was calling it double waterfall trail...I talked to Chris (My1stJeep) and he said he had heard people call it Turtle Falls..and I had heard/read it called that as well...

Yes Brad, that's my son, no problem on the info. if it has anything to do with wheeling he's there. Turtle Falls is ok, we never heard a name for it so we always just called it double water fall trail. Like I say when you go out again let me/us know it's about a 20 min. drive for us.

I just measured from the end of our track, and we were still more than half a mile from the road that goes past Scorpion. We still don't know what might be lurking up there.... :D

I'd be interested in a run out there too, my new radiator should be coming in on thursday, and I hear it's supposed to get a lot cooler this weekend. Just looked at google earth for the first time, i never realized how far back those roads went, looks like in a couple places you can go all the way through.

Anyone ever actually run the entire way across? is it a nice trail ride?

LOST TJ

If you follow the main trail and do not turn into Firebird keep following the main trail past Scorpion that road will wind through the mountains out to sun valley parkway.
It takes awhile and is about 30 to 35 miles of bumpy dirt road.

Hey Brian, I just watched that game yesterday, TIVO is a wonderful thing! You should get used to watching the Bears win, they will be doing that alot this season. :)
Next time don't use a football game for an excuse, come out and wheel with us and I will invite you over to watch them in HI Def. on my 61" screen...:D
And NO the desert will NOT be here forever, believe me I've watched it disapper rapidly over the past few years. :(

I'm the one that gave AZG23 the directions to the trail. I run those trails all the time with 33's, front locker, LSD rear and stock gearing and don't have any problems. I have ran those trails with 32's with the same setup and did just fine too, although it is easier with the 33's. Come on out with us if my dad (Big Jim) posts up a run.

I want TIVO, but I decided to get married to a girl with 3 kids instead! (btw, donations and babysitting always welcome!;) )

Wayne, you're on with that big screen!:) And you're right about the desert, I remember when everything west of dysart was dirt.:( Man I feel old.

I need to get my heep out and see what it'll do, but I'm afraid I'll be diappointed and have to get more and better _______ , then I won't get that TIVO! I mean seriously, how much better is it going to be going from a BB with 32' to a 4" tri-rear and 35's?:D

Brian, the only thing better than having your rig built would be WHEELING IT! You won't be dissapointed, between watching Spongebob and Mike, I'm almost ready to upgrade to what YOU have.
Brad, I would much rather see Shannon riding shotgun than dragging her up the double falls!
I wish I could post a return run but my future is uncertain, we have a contractor diddling around on a new roof for our place up in Red River, NM and I may have to drive up there and light a fire under his butt.
I really want to try Mikes line up those falls, he always makes it look easy, unless he has to come back down.... :D
