View Full Version : Log Corral Trail Rating Update

After hearing several trip reports and running the trail myself, I decided to raise the trail rating for Log Corral to a 3.5.
The summer monsoons have changed the trail exposing more rocks and increasing the difficulty on several ledges. Several obstacles have no bypasses. There are also a couple of washouts near Bartlett Lake that could result in a rollover.
Please post up any thoughts on this. I am open to feedback from the group. I added a few pictures and a description where needed. I also added the link to the water flow levels.
My pictures from Sunday. We ran from Beeline to Bartlett.

I found myself in almost this exact same spot the week before, still trying to clear the seat padding, lol.

I wish we had a better way to describe trails in general.
Everything becomes a 3.5 in the end it seems.

Its great when a review includes 'rig minimums'... such as '33's and lockers required'. I know you can generally assume the minimums from the rating numbers, but I think it is still helpful to have a little trail specific detail. For example, it seems like some 3.5's are passable in a stock rig with an experienced driver, while on others you simply must have better equipment.

I have never ran this trail before and it looks like a really fun one. Good time of year too. The pics are great. Does this trail have a out at the lake or do you have to return the same way you started?

I would agree with the 3.5 rating . It is harder than a 3.0 for sure.

Back in the day you could cross at the damm but I hear it was gated , there is a road back south that drops you into the Needle rock area but it's been 10 years since I ran it . If I remember correct there is also a trail around the lake that you can cross the river up stream which maybe the same road to the hot springs . If you pick-up a Topo map you should see that trail around the lake .

You can go all the way from Beeline to the Verde River crossing below bartlett damn and come out at Bartlett Dam Road in Carefree. GPS coordinates for the crossing are in the trail description I wrote up.
Thank you John for updating the trail description and adding your pics. The rocks that are seen under that TJ in the picture above were placed by me and a few of they guys I was with when we ran it about a month ago. That's the only way we got by that little wash out.
