I should have 2" of extra clearance (Rubicon Express Economy lift) and a diff skid plate on my stock TJ 2006 Rubi by then. Do you think that is enough for this 3.5 rated trail? The last run I went on was Walnut Canyon (rated a 3.0) on the 17th. I did pretty well considering it was the first Moderate trail I'd been on in the new vehicle.
Thanks,
Stuart

2" BB is perfect for sunflower. It's a very straight forward trail. There are some mild rock gardens to negotiate. It should be just enought that you need to watch where you go, but not so much that you get stuck and never get off the trail ;)

SamDog (Joe) took us out there a few months back and i had my Rubicon which was stock. Really didnt have any major problems, but i did use my skid plates ALOT! you'll be fine with the setup you got now.
Its an awesome trail with great views and history. Have fun.

Agreed. Joe knows the trail and the history of the area really well. It's a fun ride.

Hey Stuart, I ran it a couple of months ago and had no problem. You should be fine.
Samdog, put me down as tentative for this run.

Dam! Foiled Again. Sorry Joe but I just found out I will be out of town that weekend. A paid event I'm afraid and I won't be home until late Sunday. Oh well. Let me know how it goes. I'll have to pass until the next time someone does this loop.
Thanks for the op,

Not new to wheeling, but not a pro either.

I'm new to the group and a friend of mine and I were thinking of going on this run. I have never done anything like this before. I have 4.5" lift and 33's no lockers. Would this be o.k. for a first run?

Yeah I think 4.5" lift would do great for a first time out. As long as you can drive that rig you should do fine. I do almost everything in a stocker with
31's.

LOL. Confused is putting it lightly. But to be nice. I would of rather built my jeep before starting out on the trails but I don't have that much cash laying around to do what I want all at one time. So I stay stock untill I return in July. Then Let the Build Begin!!

Put me down as definite.
How's the dust on that trail. I like to wheel with my bikini top and doors off but not if it's dusty. I learned the hard way how dusty the Crown King run is.

It might be wise to realize I locker will almost be definent on this trail if it is raining! Just throwing it out there.... most of its dirt and washed out but the little rocky sections might be a biut interesting with open diffs....

Are we still running this trip, even if it rains? I don't care if it rains or not, but I just don't want to drive out there if the run is going to be cancelled due to weather.

Ohh I want to, Im ready to rock and roll, rain or not. I just hope its not wet and we have vehicles not capable, it been a while since I have been there but maybe Samdog has been there recently... Chime in bud!

If the rocky wash section is running and there's stock vehicles it could pose a few problems, especially if you are coming in from the west side and going UP the wash. The exit can be fun with a stock truck when its wet.

Sweet, what do you think the conditions would be if it were a wet trail, and for a stock jeep with no lockers?
Jamie469
10-06-2006, 01:49 PM
Ran it wet before.... actually partially snowy. I have a 4 " lift and 33"s, everything else was stock at that point, made it through with very few hang ups here and there. If you don't have a lift or bigger tires, would definately be a challenge.

Joe,
Thanks for guiding the trip.
Steve,
Thanks for taking rear gunner.
All,
Had a great time on this trail. I didn't get to meet everyone (since there were so many), but I enjoyed talking to all those that I met.
This was my first time out with AZVJC, and it definately won't be the last!!
If anyone wants to go on a run with me, then please feel free to contact me at damien.choi@asu.edu or 626-274-3108.
Cheers,
Damien

Joe,
Thank you for leading this trip! I had a great time!
Jon,
Thanks again for spotting me through the "tougher" areas. I was a little nervous about my new stocker, but you made it easy.
Thanks to everyone! It was a lot of fun! Been a while since I've been out with the AZVJC, but I'll be around a lot more often now.
