Do some research on this forum. More people are having problems with them then are not. They typically won't engage when you want them to and once they engage they refuse to unengage. This problem seems isolated just to the d30. Ask AZcharlie what he thinks of them. It's so bad that 4wheelers is considering not carrying them until the manufacturer addresses the problem.

I'm sure others will chime in. But hopefully this sums up the answer you're looking for.

Well after many phone calls back and forth with Auburn, we have pulled the mod 30 ECTEDs off our shelf. We are in the process of changing out several customers units to ARBs. Auburns just didnt have the anwers we were looking for. I want to stress this point (THIS IS THE MOD 30 ECTED ONLY!!!). The other larger units work GREAT. So if you are looking for a selectable locker for your mod 30, Go with the ARB or better yet the SUPER ARB.:)
Thanks for reading.

I wonder if the problem has anything to do with the weak 30 housing? I know it's been blamed for failures of Dana 30 ARB's. The housing seems to flex quite a bit.

It doesn't sound like that might be the problem with this. It seems this problem is too wide spread. I know AZcharlie only had I believe 32" tires on his. I can see if Barry was beating on a d30 with an ected, but with 7 out of 10 of them having the same problem I think it's unlikely.

As a member of the D30 ECTED club, I’d recommend against choosing this unit! But, I highly recommend being a member of the 4wheelers supply club! They have been very helpful with the issues that I’d been having with the locker and have taken great steps in trying to resolve the problem! Due to their diligent customer service, next month I’ll be a proud new member of the D30 ARB club!
Thanks again Simon & Mike!:D

I'm just catching on to this thread, I can add that I sold a few of them as well, and I can't think of 1 including my own that didn't have a problem, I know of one customer that it wouldn't engage, and mine wouldn't disengage, it was totally spooled up and not easy to steer, thats why I left it in Payson awhile back, it came out the very next day and I have no faith in them at all

I run 35"MTR and I do wheel the 3.5-4.5 trails often. At first the locker worked great. I had no problems. But with lockers came harder trails and I defenitly put the locker to the test. Howerver, I've only had the locker for maybe three months or so. A total of 8 to 10 trails. 4wheelers is hooking me up with a ARB next week. I hope my luck changes and with the ARB I'll have little to no problems.

I was so ready to be locked up front. I didn't have a lot of funds so I went with the ected selectable as a cheaper solution. Got what I paid for. Should have gone ARB or OX. The locker will not engage. Now all I have is a limited slip and a switch where the lights are on, but no one home in the locker.
I recommend against!!!

I have a 93 YJ. I Replaced the stock dana 35 rear end with a Ford 8.8. In the front I swapped the d-30 with a dana 44. I put an ected in the rear and can't say anything bad about it, it is better than I thought would be. I'm running 37/12.5/15 with 4.56 yukons. 2" leaf over. I recently swapped the 30 for the 44 and currently intsalling an ected in the 44. I'll let you know how it works. i run Colorado trails. The ected in the 8.8 has responded perfectly every I engaged, it disengaged just as well.

I just ordered a Eaton E-locker for my rubicon 44 axle, just got to save up for the shafts...hopefully I can install this summer??? There is a 3mo wait as they are not on the market yet. Hopefully there are no problems, S/B very simular to the one used in the 2007 Rubicons.:)
