Motorcraft Ign. Swap (finally!)

Finally swapping my stock crap ignition for the upgradable MOTORCRAFT

Found a guy that will sell me the complete ignition setup off of a 360 out of an old Jeep. Anybody else done this swap on their 304? did you see any big changes?

I've been planning on doing it for my 258 but have bigger fish to fry lately.

I think Greg Gaines did the swap recently (Steve Olney might have helped) on his 258 and said the difference is like night and day, with much better idle and throttle response.

We actually swaped over (258, but 304/360 is just as easy) to HEI...I like it a lot. After having problems with motocraft (is much much better than prestolite), I am considering doing that swap. If you do go motocraft, a great addition is to swap to the ford style cap... 84 Ftruck (our e350's have same thing) has adapter from small cap to large cap which uses differend wire style (a little better at keeping water out). primary advantage is larger space between contacts prevents misfire at higher rpm

I also have all stuff to convert to motocraft if you are interested

I am going to go check out a possible Donor today (86 Wagoneer w/360) the guy will sell me the whole ignition for 50 bucks (including distributor and brain box) but if it doesn't work out I will PM you on those parts.
