Anyone know where I can locally buy some grounding straps? I'm having a hard time getting my cb antenna mount properly grounded, and figured I'd give these a try.

Checker, Pep Boys, Autozone, any decent electical or electronics supply joint, Ham Radio Outlet (HRO) on 19th Ave and Dunlap.
Look for braided copper strap. HRO can set you straight if you talk to the right person.

Thanks Barry. I looked on Pepboys and Checkers websites earlier, but didn't see them there.
I've got one of those powder coated teraflex mounts, and I have to mount it in a strange way with 3 washers behind one of the bolts to get a good ground and swr readings. It doesn't make any sense. I've searched all over and tried a bunch of different things. This is my next step.

You are probably thinking the powder coating is preventing a good electrical contact which is probably quite right. You might try scraping it off in strategic locations if you have not already.
I recall seeing stuff on the shelf recently but here's some hits for universal battery ground straps at Checker:
http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductList.aspx?CategoryCode=3012A&SearchFor=Battery%20Ground%20Strap%20%2D%20Univers al
I also got several hits at the Autozone site using the search function and a search term of "ground strap".
I suggest you head to HRO and show them your installation. They can help set you straight I bet. I actually have some ground braid I may be able to spare for you presuming if I can fnd it. Let me know how you fare.

If I can't get it figured out by this weekend, then I'll give Ham Radio Outlet a try. Thanks for the suggestion.
I have already sanded the powder coating off of two locations where directed by others. I must be getting a decent ground on the mount now, but I have some other things I want to try. I am getting great swr readings right now with the crazy way I have it mounted, but would prefer something that doesn't look so jury rigged.
I need to drill the original holes for the tailiight mount because I stripped two of them. After doing that and using bolts and nuts to mount the tail light, I am going to try to ground the "optional" bolt on the teralfex mount into the tub on the inside of the jeep via some coax or the grounding strap. Putting holes into my new jeep is fun  :D :D
If I can't ever figure it out I will leave it as it is now. They always say that looks aren't everything...

Hey. Stay on topic. The I can't wheel for crap thread is somewhere else.
