View Full Version : Damage from Log Corral

Well, I finally got to run Log Corral yesterday and I took some damage in the rock garden that I think needs some attention. I really smashed my front right lower control arm mount and I'm not sure what to do about it. Any suggestions?

I also hit a rock hard enough with my front right wheel that it bend the outside edge (at the bead) back far enough that air was hissing out. I pounded that back as best I could but it still had a pretty fast leak. Changed it out with the spare and now I'm not sure if I need a new rockcrawler rim or if it can be fixed. The tire might be cut on the inside at the bead also. Leaving now to have it checked out.

Great trail! Kind of had to search for the river crossing through all the vegetation, but finally found it. Deep enough to just about cover my 33's. Took us quite a while to do this run, mainly getting through the rock garden canyon with a TJ on 33's and ZJ on 31's. I definitely need more lift, suspen...well...more everything for my Jeep! But first I just need to fix the CA mount.

Go talk to Hunter, he fixed mine up and boxed it in nicely.

I don't know if 4 Wheelers or Max 4x4 will box in or the price. Mine looked like that and Hunter was cool enough to fix it up a day or two before the camping trip I did last summer.

4 Wheelers can put the heavy duty ones on for you.

That trail was pretty good huh David ? We started around 0930 and crossed the river at 1800. Then spent two hours driving back around to get our trailers, we had planned on just going to the corral and back but decided against it. The part down by the lake where the road was washed out was pretty good for a pucker factor as well ! I'm working on getting some pic's up, but photodump is giving me problems.

Thanks again for the directions and glad to hear you made it through !

holy crap david!! you said you didnt wheel hard haha! Get some thicker replaements and have them weld the currie skids on em for an extra 10-12 a piece or something like taht, mine get used and abused and hold really well

I got the RE HD brackets which actually increase your ground clearance some and Hunter just used some spare stock plate to box mine in.

Anyway, it is an important mod to do. Everyone just doesn't think about it until you hit that stage. LOL :D

The recent rains must have really changed that trail, or VIVISect is actually a good spotter. :) We went through with out stock Rubi, but we did choose the easy lines. Would love to see the pics of the trail by the dam and how its washed out.

The line that worked through the rocks:

Pucker (yeah, we threw some rocks here):

And this is my best guess as to all the erosion down the hill:

It did change a bunch. The side of the trail looks about the same, but the garden is much tougher now. Great pics. :)

Thanks for all the replies! And great pics RokNRich! Yeah, that was a great trail and that washout by the dam really had me worried, I just took it slow and thankfully I didn't slip any. I might have gotten through the rocks without any damage if I had been with someone who has done the trail before and has more experience than what I have. I've had my Jeep for about a year now, but I haven't had much opportunity for learning how to wheel it. So far most of my lessons have come from watching all you more experienced guys but the greatest teacher has, of course, been breakage. It's funny how the very day after I broke my axle, I could suddenly name just about every part under my Jeep! :D Having someone ride with me is a great way to learn. I learned a little bit the other day when Shnipe rode along with me at Sycamore - but looking at his Jeep and examining just why he was riding with me, I'm still not sure if I learned good things! ...Just kidding, Dennis! You're a great spotter and coach! You can ride along with me anytime.
