I'm in the market for a replacement exaust manifold and was looking for some feedback. I got this link from DsrtJeeper some time ago. http://www.1aauto.com/1A/ExhaustManifolds/Jeep/Wrangler/1AEEM00146/400483

What do ya'll think?
I'm cautious when it comes to theese things because I have seen some poor quality ones in the past. The price on the linked manifold is cheap, but they claim its well built. So what do you know?

Geno, I got one of the specials off Ebay when I needed mine replaced. Only paid a total of like 80 bucks including shipping. It's been doing what it's supposed to be doing for quite some time now with no issues.

4Wheelers also has some good deals on I believe Gibson and stock. I sent a buddy of mine to Simon and he hooked him up.

If you end up not going that way, stay the hell away from Borla!!!!

Also Simon replaced my PITA Borla with a new stock one.

I have that exact same manifold from that exact same company. Been running it about a year now and so far so good.

Right on Roger,
so you must belive that its the "high quality" replacement part they claim?

It sounds good on the internet, but I'm glad I found someone running it.

I had shopped around. Found one at Quadratec with the Mopar name on it but they wanted about $500. I saw one at 4 Wheelers - they wanted $250 and I was tempted to go that route to support the local shop. I also saw the ebay models for $60 and up. But, in the end, 1A Auto offered a "cheapy" model as well as the one you asked about which they claim is higher quality. Maybe I'm a sucker but I liked the idea that it was supposedly a higher quality unit for not a whole lot more money.

I have a stock one that mounts to the block. No O2 sensor. Will sell for cheap. I bought it for a buddy who decided he would just weld his old one.

Sounds like a good deal, but I'm gonna pass because of the fact that the stock one will most likely crack again.

Thanks anyways Max.

What's on the first and last cylinder tubes? This manifold looks like dog crap, but looks may be decieving.

That's a flexible joint to keep the header from cracking due to flexing of the exhaust. You need to see one of these up close. They are very good quality. ;)

For what it's worth, I've *heard* decent things about that cheapo manifold on some of the other Jeep boards as well. I was all set to discount it based on how it looks but people who have them seem happy. Thinking about going this route myself since I now have a leak.

Your comment is worth it.
BUT,
just dont think ALL the aftermarket ones are good. There are a grip of manufactures for them. I bought an aftermaket one about 5 years ago from the Jeep 4$4 recy. on Broadway, what a POS! The first one they sold me for $280, I could see daylight between the flange and tube, it was missing some weld . They then traded it out for another and I installed it on my 93XJ with a new hi-flow cat. and a magna-flow muffler. When I was on the gas and above 40-50mph, people behind me described my exaust sound as sounding like "wet tires on pavement", or "a hiss". :(

The above experience is why I'm cautious. Every-one seems to agree on this one. :)

Yes Geno; there are some copy cats out there. The link I posted is the original and the materials and workmanship are top notch. The flanges are nice and thick and machined flat. ;)
