The weather is great and its time to enjoy it! We were planning a bike ride but a few folks wanted to know if they could join us in thier jeeps and not ride. Sure!

When: 9/29-10/1
Where: Most likely, about 8 miles south of the "Y" (junction of 179 & 89A) in Sedona on FR 525. Scroll down for directions.
Bike rating: FOGT (fat old guy trails) maybe with a little spice thrown in!
Jeep Rating: Come on! its Sedona! Its pretty and pink jeeps!

If you can't stay the night and want to come up for the day, thats fine!

If you don't have a Jeep and just want to bike, that fine!

If you don't have a bike and just want to Jeep, thats fine! (After all we're gonna be real hungry after the ride and will need someone to make us lunch! :D )

I'll be heading out Friday afternoon and staying until sometime Sunday. We will be mtn biking in the mornings and Jeeping in the afternoon.

This most likely will be primitive camping so bring your tent, RV, cardboard box or whatever. I will have my RV there and as long as the water holds out we can hose the dirt off of you. Bring a full 5 gallon can and you guarantee yourself a shower! I also have a shower/privacy tent and P.E.T. toilet for those that don't want to do thier business in the bushes.

Here is the original thread, if you want to add ideas.

I headed up to Sedona today and met with Nena. She was kind enough to pull herself away from the shop and show us around.

The best place we found was off of Red Canyon Road. Also known as FR 525
It is located just off of Hwy 89A at milepost 364. This is located about 9.5 miles west of the "Y" in Sedona. Or 9.3 miles from the 260/89A junction in Cottonwood. The turn off is pretty easy to see. You turn north on to Red Canyon Road. Stay to the right past the first Y and bear left after you have traveled for 1/2 mile from the main road. It should be obvious, even at night.

The site is close to lots of trails both Bike and Jeep. But keep in mind you will need a Red Rock Pass as we will be camped within its boundries

Here is link to a google map. Just zoom out to see it location relative to I17

Camp site (http://www.google.com/maps?hl=en&client=firefox-a&q=&ie=UTF8&om=1&z=18&ll=34.824479,-111.908707&spn=0.003294,0.005032&t=h)

Here is a Sedona map that prints well. The location of the camp site is not marked but you can see Red Canyon Road.

Big thanks to Nena and her slave, Patty for all the help!

i guess i forgot to post here that YES my bike was INSIDE the apartment on sunday. with the neighborhood we are in, we didnt chance leavign them outside. Most of the bike is fine even though it was an aluminum frame. Havent had a chance to look at it fully to inspect the welds for cracks or anything that melted worse than it seems. but i wont be makin the trip. at least the jeep didnt fit in the apt :P
