View Full Version : Beeping noise from dash?

Driving to work today, my dashboard started beeping. It sounded like a beep from when the gas light comes on, but it didn't stop... beeps were about 1 second apart and kept up for over a minute, until I pulled over and the beeping stopped. Not sure if it stopped on its own, or because I stopped... but it didn't start up again.
The Jeep is an 06 Wrangler, and I recently had a gas skid put on, the fuel pump was removed. Would that have anything to do with it? Should I be concerned?
Thanks for any info,
Matt

No idiot lights going on?
Could be something to do with the evap circuit where the fuel filler neck wasn't completely tightened and not running the right pressure in the fuel system.
There's also some ABS circuits that run in that area, but those should definitely light up something.
Most likely the fuel system/evap circuit throwing a signal about the gas cap not being on, or loose.
Could even be that the fuel lines are loose and you're almost out of gas from leakage. The slower engine speed caused the fuel to slosh forward and raise the float out of the "yo, man, you bettah find a station now or you gon' be ridin the heel-toe express" range.

No idiot lights at all.
I'll check the fuel filler neck, gas cap, and the fuel lines as much as possible, thanks...
I had just pulled out of a gas station after filling the tank, so hopefully it didn't leak out my $40 in 1/4 mile :)

My 2001 Jeep will beep at me constantly in the following circumstances.
1.) The doors are off and I have not pulled the fuse that disconnects the door switches. This one ought to be pretty easy for you to figure out.
2.) I am driving with the emergency brake engaged. It only beeps when I am in motion... When I am stopped the beeping goes away. Are you sure you had your e-brake disengaged completely? All it takes is for it to be engaged enough to trigger the switch that activates the light on the dash.

My 04 will beep if I have the above mentioned issues as well as the turn signal left on for long periods of time (changing lanes on the freeway), and if my seat belt is not on. And no, I do not make a common practice of driving without my seat belt. :D

This was before my first cup of coffee, so its definitely possible I didnt tighten the gas cap, I had the e-brake slightly engaged, or I had my turn signal on... or any combination of the three :D

There are some things you should never drive with... alchie in your blood, illegal substances, depression/severe anger, too tired.
But you should NEVER drive without insurance, license and coffee!
