I tagged along with BamBam and gang today. Etropic led us through Elvis and then we headed over to Martinez. Great Day! Great people! Thanks Russ for setting it up and Rob for leading most of the way!

Carnage: Two bent Currie tie rods (me and Brnzy), possibly a broken front axle (Dale), flat tire (Zeliman), shot axle bearing (Kyle, before we hit the trail), Broken shock mount (Brnzy), crushed chrome tail pipe (Me, Yaaaay!)

Here's some pics.

Nice pics!!! How difficult did you feel Elvis was?

Thanks Jamie. It's one of those trails you can make as easy or as hard as you want. Fun Trail!:)

Hey guys, that was one awesome day of wheeling. The weather was nice (could of done without the bugs) and it turned out to be a good crowd that had alot of fun. There was some carnage but nothing to serious. A cut tire, blown axle seal, dropped shock, two or three bent tie rods, torn license plate holder and a possible front axle but we all made it out O.K.

Thanks Etropic for suggesting the Elvis trail, that was a good call. All this time of running trails in that area I never knew that Elvis was there. The Martinez loop is really getting more challenging each time I run it. The recent rains have really washed it out. It has got to be one of the most scenic runs out there.

DesertDawg, your rig is running great, can't wait for Willow Springs to dry out :D Next time you talk with Dan ask him about his new hill decent technique:eek:

Unitl next time,

Looks like a lot of fun! I'll need to add a few more parts before that trail. (lockers/big tires)

Maybe next time!

Great pics, looks like a good time. One question though, how come every time DesertDawg goes out someone comes back with a broken axle?:D Glad everyone had a good time.:)

Nice pics!!! How difficult did you feel Elvis was?

A good driver in a stock open/open rig can do the trail taking the optional (easy) lines. The difficult lines generally will require big tires, clearance and disregard for sheet metal and at least one locker, two lockers for most of the good lines.

It seems like a lot of us are slicing MTR's lately. Each time I read a review someone has a sliced MTR. :) Me being one of them last weekend (or I suppose since it's Monday, the weekend before). I suppose a big part of this is because such a high percentage run MTR's these days. More you have out there the more likely you are to come across a sliced one. I'll keep telling myself that. :)

What a great trip. Thanks to Barry for giving us the spot on directions to Elvis so I could lead you there in the first place, it was a very cool alternative to box canyon.

I'll have a ton of pics up soon as well...

A very popular tire, no question. A great tire for the vehicle that sees 90% of its time on the asphalt. An inferior choice for a tire that sees 90% of its time on the rocks. Ask anyone who spends 90% of their time on the rocks and they will tell you what works.

Looks like a great trip. I am planning a run in a couple of weeks and am curious if you can still get to the original down or the luge as it was called. I remember when we opened this trail getting to the luge and saying no way and having to turn around and go out the way we came in, not knowing the cabins were right there, a long trip for sure. Anyhow, great pics of one of the most scenic trails out there!
