There is a wash where...
at the south end you leave it to go north into box canyon...
at the north end you come out where coke ovens splits south off of martinez canyon
Here is a link to it...

Martinext cabin/canyon is to the north east, coke ovens is the dirt color due south and the wash I'm talking about runs south (more on the west side and grey color)... you can follow it all the way to the end of box canyon.
Does it have a name?
Has anyone run it?
Is it worth the trip ?
thanks !!

I'm not reall familiar with that area, but I did a trail last weekend called Elvis. The trail starts in a wash before you get to Box Canyon (if your comming in from the south from Price Rd). When you exit the trail you are now north of Box Canyon and a short ways from the intersection that takes you to the cabins. If this is the trail you are referring to it is a very fun trail and worth the trip. There is a trail description in the trail section with some pictures.

Yeah, Elvis "starts" West / Southwest of Box Canyon. It runs somewhat parallel to Box on the North side. At the end of Elvis, you reach a "T". Going to the right at the T will take you up to very high ridge and then drops down to where Box Canyon trail ends (near the "intersection" with the playhills and the road heading off to Martinez/jackhandle/CokeOvens.
I can't place the wash that is shown in the map, so can't comment on whether it's a trail or link to other trails in the area...just can't orient myself on that map.

That is right at the intersection where you turn south to go to the Coke Ovens or keep going east to Martinez Cabin/Canyon; it's just about 3/4 mile ESE of the entrance to Jack Handle. Looking at the Wells book I don't see it listed as a trail but that don't mean squat ;)

I've always either crossed the wash and headed north to the cabins or south to the ovens, but I have wondered where that wash goes, if it's passable, or, more importantly, if it's open for 4WD traffic.
If you take that same wash north and stay in the wash (don't take the road to the cabins) it becomes another trail but I forget the name (Jackhandle maybe?)

I have wondered the same thing. Well I checked it out this past weekend going thru Box. It goes about 100 yards back and then turns into a really narrow canyon. A quad might make it if it could get past some boulders. Maybe a highly modified buggy?? might be too narrow. I didn't go past that point so I have no idea what's beyond that.

ah, that sucks... from the north end maybe you can go farther, looks kinda scenic with that canyon wall to the east (south east) at the north side, maybe I'll check it out next time I head to martinez canyon
