Well, one way is to go through Munds Park. Take I-17 and ge off at the 322 exit. Take main road through the area, mostly cabins and summer homes. You keep going for about 3 or 4 miles, then you hit dirt road. I want to say its about 16 miles, but you will come into the back side of Mormon Lake. The road should be pretty well graded, but you migth be able to find some "play places" back in there. I used to hang out up there alot in my younger days and remember quite a few spots. But, who knows over the years.

The fastest way for me is across on Stoneman Lake Rd. It's pretty rough generally but pretty quick.

I believe you can also hitch a ride on the Mormon mothership on it's way to Utah. I believe the ship passes there twice daily. :)

The trick on Stoneman Lake Rd. is to use 4-wheel drive. It'll smooth out the road by 50% and not beat ya up as much. I'm up there quire a bit myself....

My parents have several acres up there in an area called Long Park. It's about three miles south of Mormon Lake.

Here's my suggestion that will require 4wd and a coconino map for backup:
-Take I-17 to Munds park exit.
-Drive through Munds Park across the cattle guard and continue to a "T"
..at this "T" Mormon lake will be left on a smooth graded road and sheep springs and long park will be a right and a lesser maintained road.
-Take the right turn and continue on this road (rail road bed) until you see FR219 on the left. (~7miles) FR219 is a scenic and remote 4wd trail that takes you right into the town of Mormon lake.
Please double check your map and don't go on my directions alone. If you need more info, let me know.
