I figure its about time I started getting my hands dirty. I'm going to pick up an oil skid, fuel tank skid, and sliders (Warn) today or tomorrow and try to do the install. Any chance anyone would want to give me a hand...maybe tomorrow night, or Thursday night? I'm just south of Camelback on 32nd street. I've never even met any of you guys so its probably a lot to ask, but I'd really appreciate the help. Free beer! :)
Also, since I moved out to AZ I've never had a reason to buy tools... so I'm pretty much starting from scratch. I have a couple ratchets and some screwdrivers, and thats about it. What kind of stuff will I need to put this gear on?
Thanks!
-Matt

Thursday night im good to go. i dont have any skids :D so i dont have the experience of putting them on prior but im good with a wrench and a hammer :D
have you run the tank down on the jeep? itll be a bit easier if its mostly empty for the gas tank skid. Ive heard from someone that you can slip ratchet tie downs around the gas tank when removing the skid so that you dont have to fully drop it out.
sliders MIGHT need a drill for the inside mounts. Not fully sure how theymount up but ill look for install instructions and see. A guy i work with has em, ill see today how they mount up for referrence.
oil pan skid should just bolt up nice and easy.
Do you have a floor jack? might help with lowering the gas tank skid if you have one or can get/borrow one.

Thanks SHNIPE!
Jamie469 is in also, and he said he has a drill he can bring. Gas tank is half full now, I'll do my best to run it down to E by Thursday.
I'll swing by autozone today and buy a floor jack and some ratchet tie downs.

I'll come by and lend some sarcasm and maybe even a helping hand. I will bring my floor jack if you want so you don't have to buy one.
I have no experience with the Gas tank skid...I paid 4wheelers to do it, but the oil pan and rocker skids should be pretty easy.
Let me know if there is other stuff you need.

Nice, thanks man. If you don't mind lugging the jack over, that would be great.

Any of you guys know anything about carbs? No no no, not the atkins diet, the gas ones. If so, I'll bring my XJ along too and one of you all can take a look see at it, I think the float is bad. Just need someone to point it out, and give me the average joes version of replacing it.

This just may be your hobby :)
Just think, you can take it with you to Africa as well. Show up all of the toyotas over there.
Look at this thread.

I think I'm going to bring my roomate along if you don't mind, I think he'll be installing some skids on his Jeep pretty soon and wants to get the general idea of what hes doing.

We must have been doing it the hard way, because this gas skid was a pain in the ***. I ended up letting the tank drop too fast and snapped off the little tube connection on top of the fuel pump, had to get a whole new pump.
I dropped the whole deal off at 4 Wheelers this morning to see if they can fix my screw up :o
Skids look great though. Thanks for coming by guys, I really appreciate the help.

So did you get the rock sliders on? It sounds like you did, how hard was it? I'm thinking about installing them on mine.

Yeah we got the sliders on... Jamie did those pretty much by himself, and they went on pretty easy. Just drill the holes and bolt em up.
