Bought this fan a couple of weeks ago to go with the sweet aluminum core radiator I got from POR...

The unit bolted right in, wiring was a snap and it operates really well. Here's the problem...

When I first opened the box I was a little suprised that there was no type of grill in front of the blades. For some reason in the picture this never really hit me. I remember thinking if I toss a rock up into the engin compartment I'm going to break one of these fins... Well I was wrong, I broke two of them wich created on heall of a vibration when it came on.

The bioooootch of the thing is, I've only had YJunk out on the trail a couple of time since I put it in and they've all been bunny trails. I do tend to drive a little faster accross the rocks and washes than a some people, but only two times out COME ON!

Flex-a-lite is kind enough to sell me a new fan part for just $19 (and shipping is another $20 for 2nd day). How about they sell me a guard for the thing so rocks don't go bouncin up in to it... even my cheap little hayes fans had that much on them...

Well, I'll be looking to fab up some typ of cover for this thing... if you've ever had this problem and have a fix for it let me know. Any input is appreciated.

Maybe you shouldnt rally the jeep anymore. Those races in the wash with your jeep vs mine are starting to make me feel inadequate anyways!

Sucks its broke. Is it causing trouble with YJunk still? youre good to go for friday??

Sorry about posting this in the wrong section... didn't even think of it as a review; I just wanted to biatch about it a little...

Shnipe I should be good for Friday... The parts should be here on Thursday... don't see an issue getting it on (hopefully I don't break it before I can get a grill fabbed up for it.)

Little bit of gearing and you'll be kicking my arse in the washes (which is why I'm planning some upgrades now... Buwahahahahahaha)...

Speaking of rear axles... Won't be long and I'll be pulling that 35... You could always have that lockright thats in that... I just don't know if your shafts would hold up with your 33's... (If our last trip to squeeze is any indication you seem to have a problem with your skinny pedal sticking to the floor).

On the flip side, it is only a 4cyl so torque isn't a huge issue... there might only be one way to find out!! :)

I have the same fan and it has lasted a year with no problems.

Just wait until the "made in korea" circuit board melts where the blade connectors attach. Thats a lot of fun, those fans are hit or miss and frankly, Id rather spend my money elsewhere.

Forgot about your 8.8... we'll find someone to hand it off too.

The fins should be showing up tomorrow (hopefully)... I've got an idea for a metal mesh grill for the front of that thing which will hopefully reduce the likelihood of another roc attack...
