Can someone explain how I would take a big jpeg or bitmap photo and create an avator? Avatars are really, really small (not sure what format, either).
TIA,
Larry

If you post the picture or a link to it, I will do it for you.
It takes photo editing software.

James,
I guess I'll have to buy some photo shop software so I can do my own editing. I'll send you a .jpg (it's big) in an email, if that's ok.
Thanks for the offer,

James,
My computer has PictureGear Studio software (came with it) that provides picture "management" type features, but does not provide picture editing, reduction (compression?), etc., capabilities. What add on software would you recommend that would give me the additional capabilities without also providing redundancy with PictureGear Studio features?

I have a really expensive software that I use. I use it for my video editing, making DVD's, CD, VCD, SVCD, picture editing, ... (a million things I don't even use). So to recommend it would be over kill for your situation. Maybe someone else can recommend something, a shareware hopefully.
There is an option on my software, I thought MS Photo Editor has, called "resize". Photo Editor comes with MS Office, most people don't know it is there and do not install it. You might try that.
