Sheesh... freaking idiots in cars with cell phones.
Three times in the past two days I've had someone change lanes into me, causing me to swerve to avoid being hit. EVERY TIME, the person had a freaking cell phone up to their ear. Every damn time.
Makes me want to take their cell phones and shove them up their ***.

Kick their door in. :D
It might be wrong but it will make you feel better. :D :D :D
Do you have one of them honking 130dB horns? So much better then the "loud pipes, saves lives" concept. ;)

It works for you too:confused::eek:!
I hate people that do that...but with a car it's easier...I usually stay where I'm at, accelerate, and it scares the ch!t out of them....
I admit I almost hit two bikers and was not preoccupied with my cell. I'm a prudent driver and rarely rely on my side view mirrors (head turn), but sometimes it's just hard to see you bikers especially during the day.

I could override it... but why should I allow myself to use obscene words and not allow others to :D

Which is one reason I sold my R850R - that and my own concentration wasn't where it needed to be. Back a few years ago I was riding along and this ID10T on a phone tried merging into me while I was on my bike. I planted my right boot on his drivers door and I think he lost three brown, steamy pounds he was so shocked :D

We lost one of out pilot instructors earlier this year due to a guy not looking where he was merging and hitting him doing at least 60MPH getting onto I believe it was the 60. He wore full gear too and it was the impact of him hitting the ground that killed him.
I'm always careful when I ride. I have a white Joe Rocket jacket, a mostly white helmet and my white gloves have come in so that all of my upper body will be in white.
I have noticed with the white I get more noticed, but nothing can stop the idiots on cell phone. Unfortunately most times, even if they are at fault they usually are let off with a lighter sentence. I think the only way we'll get noticed more is if there are stiffer penalties for people that end up hurting, maiming, or killing us motorcyclists.
Of course we need stiffer penalties for idiots that don't ride their bikes properly too. I'd love to strangle the stunting idiots I see every now and again.

This is one of the reasons why I never got a street bike... I'd end up being one of those "stunting idiots" and would probably ultimately either kill myself or have Jamie throw her 36mm socket at me from her Jeep mid-wheelie.

Mike,
Why do you think I still have my blue lights hooked up in my rig? ;)

The other group of people I notice who seem to NOT notice are those with that "straight ahead afraid to turn my head stare."
It wasn't but last week, someone tried to merge into my lane, I was right next to their drivers door. I'm also one of those guys with the loud exhaust, I've even started wearing earplugs for myself lately. He didn't even bother to look in his mirrors or look to the either side of the car.
I gotta say though, the cell phone users seem to be the biggest threat out there.

unoficial insurance notes (my 14yrs as insurance agent)
while many accidents are attributable to lack of attention while on cell phone, far more happened while adjusting radio (should we take radios out?).

There is so much evidence piling up against cell phone use while driving that sooner or later, they will be banned.
Some studies suggest they are more dangerous than drunks and they do cause a lot more accidents. I would support a ban against their use by drivers.

The one thing that's starting to become more dangerous than drinking/cell phone use combined is text messaging. Talking on the phone is one thing, but typing on the phone is that much more worse.

It is banned in France and has proven to be very effective.

i catch myself being stupid sometimes and texting while i drive. MOst of the time i can text without looking, sometimes ill lose my concentration and realize my lack of attention and i ALWAYS remind myself taht i could have killed another driver or even worse in my eyes a rider. my cellphone usually stays in my pocket instead of in my hand.

I installed air horns under the tail of my CBR F3. As soon as i see someone going over the line markers i give them a quick blast....... WORKS GREAT!!!
Lots of us in NYC had them....only way to stop a cabbie or bus
