I turned in a trouble call to the hosting company yesterday and hoped it would be up by now.
So far, not even a reponse back with an ETA or anything.

I have a status to pass along.....
Yes, the server is down.
No, we don't know when it will be returned to service.
Yes, the techs are aware of it.

Yes and know.....no hosting company can claim 100% availability....if they do, I would say they are stretching the truth a bit.
I dumped my last host when the problem reached the 3 week point without being resolved. I'm only on day #2 right now.....got a few more days left before I'm at that point. :)

There is one benefit to being your own host... if the site goes down, you can fix it. I'm not sure if this is outweighed by the fact that if the site goes down it is also your fault :D

Ack... two days... I'd be freaking out (and freaking mad).

Kind of a double-edged sword there, huh? :p

Stu,
I've been using pd9hosting.com for three years and have not experienced any down time with Matt yet. I typically update my site twice a day so I'm pretty aware of what is going on.
I've also always gotten really good customer service from Matt; whether its setup issues or "how the hell do I do this"... He always gets back to me quickly.
Just my two pennies; check him out if as you consider all your options.

Ya... but I'm a control freak so I'd rather be responsible for breaking and fixing than depending on someone else to take care of my stuff as a priority.
At least when I say it is a priority... I make sure it gets fixed.

A friend dropped me a response on another forum....he believe the DNS is bad.
Just for grins, I attempted to access another site I managed for a friend....it too is hosted by the same company as mine. It too can not be accessed.
What are the chances that both sites were on the same server?
Perhaps they really do have a DNS issue on their side.

Look at the other threads....
It's all clear why....
SHNIPE's fault.

That is does.
Steps were taken today to obtain a new hosting company. The company is local which sits better with me. I'll be checking them out in the next couple of weeks.....got an offer to stop by the server farm and check it out in person. That already sounds much better than the line of BS the tech support person from my current host tried selling me. I've got several months left on my existing contract and so am not rushed to jump to the next company....got some time to look things over. :)
Thanks to everyone for hanging in there....it will get resolved (hopefully sooner than later).
